Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Data Scientist in our Medicare Member Experience Data Science Team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the development of data science models and solutions in a Hadoop and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environment to improve the quality of our Medicare Stars program. As the Lead Data Scientist, you will interact with a core team of fellow data scientists to develop machine learning models and solutions that drive improvements in healthcare member experience and operational performance metrics. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, domain experts, and business stakeholders, to understand requirements, define objectives, and deliver actionable insights.

Required Qualifications

  • Extensive experience (5+ years) in developing and deploying machine learning models in a production environment, preferably in healthcare or related industries.

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and experience with machine learning libraries/frameworks such as TensorFlow, scikit-learn, or PyTorch.

  • Strong knowledge of cloud computing platforms, particularly Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and experience with relevant GCP services (e.g., BigQuery, Dataflow, DataProc, AI Platform).

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into actionable insights and technical solutions.

  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Strong communication and leadership skills to effectively lead data science projects, mentor junior colleagues, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and drive data science initiatives aligned with business goals.

  2. Ability to independently use creativity to solve “unsolvable” problems, forge new paths for growth, and achieve challenging goals.

  3. Expertise in leading multiple complex initiatives and innovative solutions.

  4. Ability to innovate, lead cross-functional teams, and communicate effectively at both technical and non-technical levels is paramount for success in this role.

  5. Ability to implement policies and procedures to ensure data quality, integrity, and security.

  6. Experience in advanced deep learning architectures and applications, including applying transfer learning techniques.

  7. Experience in analyzing data with multiple variables and complex relationships.

  8. Experience in designing and implementing experiments to derive meaningful insights.

  9. Experience in designing and implementing scalable data storage architectures and real-time data processing solutions.

  10. Experience in optimizing and scaling big data processing frameworks, including working with NoSQL and GCP databases for handling unstructured and semi-structured data.

  11. Experience in implementing MLOps practices for efficient model deployment and monitoring in the GCP environment.

  12. Experience in integrating machine learning models with existing systems through APIs in the GCP environment.

  13. Experience in leveraging advanced cloud services for data storage, processing, and machine learning.

  14. Experience in implementing serverless architectures for scalable and cost-effective data solutions in the GCP environment.

  15. Strong communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  16. Understanding of ethical considerations in data collection, analysis, and decision-making.

  17. Experience in identifying and mitigating bias in algorithms and models.

  18. Experience in implementing automated reporting solutions for timely insights delivery.

  19. Experience in creating custom visualizations using advanced libraries for tailored data storytelling.

  20. Ability to ensure privacy considerations are integrated into the design of data processes and systems.

Education

Bachelor's degree preferred/specialized training/relevant professional qualification.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$130,295.00 - $260,590.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
