CVS Health Lead Data Engineer ( SQL , Python , ETL , GCP ) in Hartford, Connecticut

To execute on our vision and strategic imperatives, the Enterprise Data Services & Operations (EDSO) team is focused on building a modern, connected data ecosystem that accelerates the use of data, analytics, and advanced AI. We are looking for passionate and motivated Lead Data Engineers to join our growing team of engineers. We are on a mission to transform technology and health care and you will play a pivotal role in executing our strategies and making our vision come true.

This is a hybrid position requiring working from the Aetna office in Hartford, CT 3 days a week. Applicants will need to reside within driving distance of this Aetna location.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Developing scalable, repeatable, and secure data structures and pipelines to organize, collect, standardize, and integrate data that facilitate more complete, accurate and consistent data for insights and reporting.

  • Creating and maintaining data models ensuring data quality, and efficiency. Design solutions that can scale with growing data volumes and evolving business needs.

  • Developing and automating processes to clean, transform and prepare data for analytics, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.

  • Integrating data from disparate sources, both structured and unstructured to provide a unified view of key infrastructure platform and application data.

  • Collaborating with data science team to transform data and integrate algorithms and models into automated processes.

  • Implementing data security measures to protect sensitive information and ensure compliance with data and privacy regulation.

  • Creating/maintaining documentation for data processes, data flows and system configurations.

  • Monitoring and optimizing data pipelines and systems for performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.

  • Promoting engineering excellence by simplifying, optimizing, and automating processes and workflows.

  • Innovating by leveraging and practicing agile techniques to achieve efficiency, boost productivity and improve processes.

  • Building and delivering high quality software to enhance customer and associate experiences.

  • Supporting all phases of software engineering including requirements, analysis, design, coding, testing and deployment while adhering to agile software development methodology.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ experience with ETL tools and database management (relational, non-relational).

  • 5+ years programming experience in Python and SQL.

  • 2+ hands on experience in building solutions in public cloud environments especially GCP.

  • 2+ years' experience in GCP Cloud services such as Big Query, Composer, Airflow, DataProc.

  • Understanding of Google Cloud Platform Costing & optimization.

  • Proficiency in data modeling techniques and tools to design efficient scalable data structures.

  • Skills in data quality assessment, data cleansing and data validation.

  • Team Player: Mentor, share knowledge, and work with others to make the team successful. Provide guidance to others ensuring successful execution of projects.

  • Communication: Exceptional verbal, written, organizational, presentation, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with open-source toolkits / frameworks.

  • Experience working with large datasets.

  • Familiarity with microservice architecture and RESTful Services.

  • Familiarity with Container Orchestration Frameworks like Kubernetes, Docker Swarm.

  • Experience with bash shell scripts, UNIX utilities & UNIX Commands, CI/CD.

  • Agile practice experience with methodologies like SAFe, Scrum, Kanban etc.

  • Healthcare domain experience.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science Engineering, Data Analytics, Informatics, Information Systems, or related quantitative field, Machine Learning, or related discipline.

  • Master’s degree or PhD preferred.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$97,335.00 - $201,900.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
