Thermo Fisher Scientific Regional Sales Manager - East Coast, US in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

Location/Division Specific Information

Remote based - Ideally seated in the East Coast- Ability to travel - Approximately 50%

How you will make an impact:

Responsible for the life sciences manufacturing portfolio sales in the East Coast, including handheld spectroscopy and in process mass spectrometer. The main industries for this portfolio will be Pharmaceutical, Chemical and Biotech industries. This role requires a focus on revenue generation and growth with the primary\ objective of assuring the East Region achieves the annual plan and contributes to the overall goals of the Chemical Analysis Division (CAD). This position is field-based, with a remote home office location convenient to reach all customers within assigned sales territory. Expectation of spending 4 workdays in the field devoted to selling, weekly.

What you will do:

  • Takes ownership of the region and communicate with senior leadership on regular basis to provide feedback on account pipeline and ensure there is an active sales funnel.

  • Drives existing funnel of opportunities to accelerate closure rates

  • Works extensively with Salesforce.com CRM to handle customer account base.

  • Responsible for developing major account relationships at the executive level for the purpose of growing sales.

  • Develops and conducts sales presentations and handles day to day account activities and development.

  • Manage revenue and product forecast for the territory.

  • Develops a business plan for each major account; monitors and reports progress regularly.

  • Collaborates with other colleagues from key divisions within their district to develop and manage account growth strategies

  • Maintains and enhances technical knowledge on assigned product lines, company literature, and competitive products

  • Feeds voice of customer to the Business Unit

How you will get here:


Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in appropriate specialty (preference for Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Engineering or Life Sciences) with 3+years of proven sales and closing experience. A strong understanding of chemistry and the Life Science industry to be able to serve as a resource for our clients will be valued.


Strong industry, pharmaceutical and science background preferred

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Proficient with SFDC, Excel, Microsoft Word and Outlook.

  • Must possess self-motivation, enthusiasm, a positive attitude, and perform as an excellent teammate!

  • Excellent communication skills for group presentations, customer sales presentations, and inter-company written and verbal communications.
