Enabling our industry-leading businesses requires many teams working collaboratively, such as Corporate Security & Responsibility, Corporate Communications, Human Resources, Procurement, Strategic Business Transformation and Real Estate. Corporate Communications is at the centre of the action, providing support that enables Bell’s industry leadership. Our team works with multiple partners across Bell to drive our communications, tech services and media businesses forward.

The Corporate Communications team develops and manages all external and internal communications strategies for Bell, providing leadership on Media Relations, Financial Communications, Public Affairs, Internal Communications, Community Investment & Sponsorship.

We are looking for an external communications professional with a focus on Atlantic regional and national communications strategies. You will collaborate closely with colleagues across Bell to tell compelling stories for key business initiatives, as well as handle day-to-day media relations and some social media content creation and monitoring. You think proactively, have a talent for finding the most compelling story angles and you can drive communications programs that generate measurable results.

Key Responsibilities

  • External communications lead for the Atlantic provinces, developing key relationships with internal and external stakeholders in the region

  • Develop and execute comprehensive external communications plans to support key priorities and initiatives that enhance and protect the corporate reputation of Bell in the Atlantic as well as contribute to national initiatives

  • Develop communications materials to support these plans including press releases, key messages, briefing materials and backgrounders

  • Establish and maintain positive media relationships; act as a company spokesperson with media and be the first point of contact including some after-hours duties

  • Support media interviews with Bell executives including spokesperson preparation

  • Develop strong relationships with teams and leaders across the company and know the key players

  • Identify and manage emerging issues in close collaboration with the business

  • Stay up-to-date on evolving economic, political, regulatory and social issues that affect Bell’s business across the country

  • Identify new opportunities and fresh ways to communicate about Bell to its audiences

  • Monitor and measure communications impact for key activities, using metrics such as media share of voice and sentiment

Critical Qualifications

  • 6-8 years of progressive experience in public relations / media relations at a medium to large organization

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism or a related discipline, or relevant experience

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills across a variety of vehicles

  • Demonstrated success at driving effective external communications campaigns and programs

  • Tactful handling of difficult situations and strong issues management / crisis comms experience

  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and deliver quality communications with tight deadlines

  • Good understanding of traditional media relations as well as social media

  • Self-motivated and resilient to changing timelines and requests

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Experience with a technology or telecoms company an asset
