Position Summary :

The Business Analyst is ultimately responsible for the facilitation and elicitation of requirements and documentation of those requirements for products on the Duck Creek on Demand platform. The Business Analyst works closely with business and IT managers to create/define the business and functional requirements. The Business Analyst validates functional business design documentation, reviews test plans, and verifies system functionality delivered for the project.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead the capture, review and update of business requirements and communicate to team members

  • Produce deliverables based on Business Lead and SME and guidance, including:

  • Business Capability Matrix and other detailed requirements documentation as required

  • Business rules to be captured in metadata layer

  • Communication and training materials development (as needed)

  • Support the delivery of the Business Architecture by partnering with stakeholders and functional lead(s) to identify business process issues and capability needs

  • Liaise between technical and non-technical resource team members to answer day to day business questions either directly or indirectly as supported by the Business Leads and SMEs

  • Conduct walkthroughs with project team members and business leads

  • Research change requests and report impacts to the rest of the team

  • Work QA and Business SMEs (UAT) to ensure requirements traceability and coverage within test cases

  • Enforce project requirement standards, templates and methods to complete work

  • Accountable for requirements documentation based on guidance from functional area business leads and SMEs

  • Promote change management principles with executives, senior leaders, managers and supervisors to influence, build relationships, and manage resistance

  • Provide support during end user training, prior to production deployments

  • Provide support to end users as needed

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Computer Science

  • 3+ years’ experience in business analysis required, preferred experience in the P&C Insurance Industry

  • 3+ years of diagramming and solutioning required

  • 3+ year’s Duck Creek Policy Admin Suite (or similar COTS application) experience preferred (Policy/Billing/Claims Suite)

  • Insurance product rationalization experience preferred

  • Experience with commercially available P&C PAS systems preferred

  • Experience developing technical documentation including storyboarding, business requirements, use cases and presentations

  • Dedicated and conscientious team player, able to adapt quickly to fast-paced environment and prioritize work to meet tight deadlines

  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently throughout the organization

  • Excellent Analytical and problem-solving skills; detail oriented

  • Experience working in agile, Waterfall and hybrid development environment

  • Experience working with SDLC tools for requirement documentation (e.g., TFS, Azure DevOps, JIRA)
