Pearson Content & Curriculum Developer - Science & Technical Courses (Limited Term) in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico

Content and Curriculum Specialist - Science & Technical Courses

**This position will be located in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico.

Responsibilities include:

-Development, review and adaptation of Science curriculum materials from K-12 including standards and expectations, curriculum maps, priority standards, curriculum alignment tools, and other curriculum documents.

-Development,review and adaptation of curriculum materials for technical schools and post-secondary institutions.

  • Help facilitate, maintain and oversee content or curriculum development in Science and related content areas; Writing and/or Communications (Listening/Speaking); item writing and item and data review sessions, in addition to bias and sensitivity review sessions; and provides content expertise during those sessions as necessary.

  • Development and review of items for large-scale assessments; interpretation of blueprints, and the construction of operational and field tests.

  • Involvement in standards interpretation, application of best practices in item and test development, facilitation of committees, and alignment determinations.

  • Position requires skills in grammar, editing, and communications with internal and external customers.

  • Develop item and test specifications documents as necessary. Assist in developing and conducting the item writer training for development workshops. Perform item fact checking according to required specifications as needed.

  • Help select, assign and manage subcontracted item and content development via item writers and subject matter experts.

  • Review and edit test items developed by contractors during the item writing and review workshops.

  • Classify test items according to pre-specified content dimensions. Ensure the accuracy of item content-coding, keying, and item validations.

  • Provide references in support of the use of each item (i.e. for the correct response and the incorrect response alternatives) as well as source references and copyright research.

  • Consult with the customer as required, including participation in planning, status, review meetings, etc.

  • Work closely with Test Development Managers, other Content Developers, Psychometricians, and across group users of assessment content.

  • Travel as necessary.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Science, Health, Engineering, Curriculum Design or equivalent education & experience required; Master's degree preferred.

  • At least 2 years of experience teaching Science or Technical courses in a classroom environment is strongly preferred.

-Experience developing and revising K-12 Science curriculum materials, including standards and expectations, curriculum maps, pacing calendars, teachers guides, lesson plans, and other curriculum materials.

-Experience developing and revising technical courses curriculum materials in content areas such as Science, Engineering, and Health.

  • Some experience in large-scale educational measurement, especially item development, is strongly preferred.

  • Some project management experience, including the scheduling of large-scale projects as well as personnel management preferred.

  • Must have outstanding verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish, including knowledge of standard Spanish grammar approved by the Spanish Language Academy (Real Academia Española).

  • Must be able to communicate effectively with team members in other locations utilizing various modes of communication, such as telephone, email, Teams, Zoom, etc.

  • Must be able to provide solutions for problems to a variety of audiences including both sophisticated and naive customers.

  • Excellent project planning and organizational skills required, including the ability to coordinate a project and individuals and to adapt to unforeseen and unexpected requests or changes in priorities.

  • General knowledge of all phases of the development, processing, scoring, and reporting of large-scale assessments is preferred.

  • Must be proficient in Cloud based work systems, including O 365 and Microsoft environments.
