This position is located at Central Office in St. Paul and has the flexibility to telework, work a hybrid schedule, or work in the office. The incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor. The incumbent may be expected to work in the office on occasion.

Occasional out state travel/overnight stays.

This position exists to enforce state and federal laws, rules and regulations governing the operation of motor carriers and other commercial motor vehicle operations in the State of Minnesota. The position exists to successfully complete training, as required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and the federal National Training Center (NTC), leading to certification to be able to perform federal New Entrant audits on new interstate motor carriers. The position also includes the ability to provide outreach to various types of motor carriers and drivers to include education, training, providing technical information and advice carriers, shippers, law enforcement agencies and the general public regarding motor carrier regulations. The position also exists to protect the general public from illegal motor carrier practices and from dangers to life and property as a result of failing to comply with motor carrier laws, rules and regulations.

MnDOT does not sponsor applicants for visas or Optional Practical Exam for STEM Students. Individuals must be legally authorized to work in the US at the start of employment.

Minimum Qualifications

One year of professional experience in the areas noted below;

OR

Two years of technical or advanced clerical experience in the areas noted below;

NOTE: A bachelor's degree in business, education, communications, criminal justice, and psychology/sociology may substitute for 1 year of professional experience.

Either qualifying scenario above must demonstrate the following:

· Experience applying laws and rules regarding records and record-keeping requirements sufficient to complete a New Entrant audit, documenting findings in a written format.

· Experience in a regulatory setting that includes oversight and enforcement of laws, rules, and regulations to ensure compliance.

· Experience writing and orally explaining information to others sufficient to complete a thorough investigation, compile findings in a written format and to be able to make an oral presentation of the findings.

· Must be able to read and understand court decisions pertaining to complex transportation regulatory issues.

· Valid Driver's License.
