Job Summary
There is one position which will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidates' education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities.
Electric Transmission Construction Specialist I: This developmental role learns to provide technical and field support
Electric Transmission Construction Specialist II: This is a fully proficient level to provide technical and field support
Electric Transmission Construction Specialist III: The senior level Specialist provides advanced technical and field support
All positions will provide technical and field support for Electric Transmission Construction areas:
Substation Site Prep/Grading -Transmission Line/Foundation Construction
Construction Forestry/Clearing
Access/Erosion & Sediment Controls/Rehabilitation
Substation Electrical Construction
Support may include analyzing and evaluating technical documentation, equipment, process improvements, field conditions and other programs for assurance that construction work is performed in accordance with Company policy, procedures, and/or requirements. Normally, works under the close direction of company construction work leader. Develops skills and knowledge necessary to exercise judgment in modifying the detail of work being performed to accommodate field conditions. May make initial contact with customers and maintain communications when performing work on private property.
Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
The knowledge, skills, abilities and education required for entry into this job include the following:
Electric Transmission Construction Specialist I : 0-2 years related experience with a preferred Associate Degree (Or 2+ years related experience with a High School or equivalent degree)
Electric Transmission Construction Specialist II : 3+ years directly related experience with a preferred Associate Degree (Or 5+ years related experience with a High School or equivalent degree)
Electric Transmission Construction Specialist III : 5+ years directly related experience with a preferred Associate Degree (Or 5+ years related experience with a High School or equivalent degree)
*Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications
Developing knowledge of operations, maintenance, and technical construction applications
Developing knowledge of contract administration and OSHA safety standards
Developing skills to apply engineering and construction theories and concepts to complex problems
Developing skills to interpret codes, regulations and practices
Good oral and written communication skills (including the ability to develop good technical writing skills)
Good computer skills and knowledge, including an ability to use Microsoft Office programs as well as the ability to learn customized software applications
Developing analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and abstract thinking skills
Developing planning, organizational and project management skills
Ability to work in a team environment under a team lead concept
Developing skills to coordinate multiple tasks at multiple locations
Ability to interact with the public
Education Requirements
Education Level:
Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:
- Associate
Disciplines Preferred: Construction Management, Engineering, or Environmental Science
Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above.
