Position Summary
The Senior Database Administrator Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, maintaining, upgrading, and automating solutions for managing and optimizing databases within an organization. This role combines expertise in SQL Server Technologies, programming, and automation to enhance the efficiency, reliability, and scalability of database systems. In this role the Senior Database Administrator Engineer will collaborate with software development teams to integrate database automation processes into the software development cycle.
The Senior Database Administrator Engineer will keep up to date with the latest industry trends and advancement in database automation technologies. You will also provide 24/7 support on SQL Server Database Systems in an on call rotation & support off hour and weekend deployments and tasks when necessary.
Key Responsibilities
Perform troubleshooting and resolving database-related issues in collaboration with cross-functional teams, including system administrators, developers, and network engineers
Ensure high availability and optimal performance of production databases through effective automation strategies and monitoring techniques
Conduct regular performance analysis and capacity planning to optimize database resources
Document database process, procedures, and configuration to ensure knowledge sharing and compliance with organization standards
Implement and maintain database automation frameworks, tools, and scrips to streamline database operations and enhance efficiency
Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation within the database environment and propose innovative solutions
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience as a SQL Server Database Engineer or similar role, with a focus on database concepts, principles, backup, recovery, deployments, best practices, and automation
4+ years experience with Azure Cloud
4+ years experience with HADR technologies like Always On, Replication, and/or Clustering
3+ years of proficiency in scripting languages like Powershell, Python, etc for automation tasks
3+ years of experience with database automation frameworks and tools like Octopus, Teamcity, Anisble, Jenkins
2+ years of experience with source code management tools like GitHub and GitLab
2+ years of experience with CICD tools and methodology
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with SSIS, SSRS, SSAS
Thorough understanding of database architecture, replication, and high availability concepts
Proficiency in SQL and experience with other database technologies such as PostgreSQL, DB2 LUW, etc
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex database issues
Effective communication skills and the ability to work effectively though collaboration with cross-functional teams
Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality database automation solutions
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (High School Diploma and 4 years relevant experience)
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$83,430.00 - $166,860.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
