Bose User Researcher in Framingham, Massachusetts

You know the moment. It’s the first notes of that song you love, the intro to your favorite movie, or simply the sound of someone you love saying “hello.” It’s in these moments that sound matters most.

At Bose, we believe sound is the most powerful force on earth. We’ve dedicated ourselves to improving it for nearly 60 years. And we’re passionate down to our bones about making whatever you’re listening to a little more magical.

The engineering team at Bose is a thriving, passionate, deeply skilled team of professionals from a broad range of disciplines and experiences, who share a common goal—to create products that provide transformative sound experiences.

Job Description

Bose is looking for a passionate User Researcher who’s excited by solving sophisticated problems, who cares about building positive relationships, and who lives and breathes the details in everything they do. We need a versatile and creative thinker who can execute rigorous research studies, conduct detailed analysis, and present compelling recommendations to help advise and influence Bose’s product strategy and design for both hardware and software.

User Researchers lead a variety of evaluative research plans from start to finish from early study design to recruiting to data collection and final analysis and recommendations. You’ll work as a trusted partner with engineering, interaction design, industrial design, as well business teams in product and marketing.

OPPORTUNITY

  • Collaborate with various cross-functional teams designing new products and experiences in our Consumer Electronics division with a strong focus on software design and development

  • Collaborate with the team’s Research Leads and peers on selecting appropriate testing methods and outlining useful study plans and protocols

  • Work across Product Design to work on and test content and prototypes from early conceptual designs to final production-ready products, including close partnerships with industrial designers, engineers, and UX designers

  • Operate often in an agile environment and work in an iterative process with designers and engineers, helping to inform designs quickly.

  • Proactively communicate study progress and raise concerns as needed

  • Complete various studies and risk analysis ensuring high-quality, unbiased data is collected

  • Analyze and synthesize data to deliver final reports with clear and compelling recommendations to cross-functional teams and business stakeholders

  • Partner with other research peers on team initiatives to proactively ensure the User Research function continually evolves and improves its operational efficiency and effectiveness

SKILLS

  • BS/BA degree or higher in a related field (Human Factors Engineering, Human-Computer Interaction, Behavior Sciences, Psychology, Product Design, etc.)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong, demonstrable technical proficiency in user research methods

  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and timelines

  • Effective problem-solving and critical-thinking skills

Travel/Location

There is little to no need for domestic and/or international travel; however, given the nature of our work in hardware products, we need to conduct in-person studies using one of our labs or other on-site venue. This does require us to follow a hybrid working model, where we require all our researchers to have the ability to come into the office to conduct in-person studies.

If you are not located within commuting distance, please indicate you are open to relocation. We can't accommodate a fully remote colleague.
