RF Engineer IV

About the Team

The Bose Product Engineering team is looking for a senior RF Engineer to join our engineering team responsible for the development of wireless technology solutions for the next generation of Bose wearables and networked speakers.

About the Job

As a senior RF Engineer in the consumer electronics engineering group, your responsibilities will include the architecture, design, validation, and verification of wireless features found inside our products, proving that the wireless features meets engineering and customer requirements for Bluetooth, WiFi, and other wireless technologies. You will work closely with cross-functional internal engineering teams, as well as external partners, to successfully develop and deliver fantastic products into the consumer marketplace, from the design concept stage all the way through manufacturing and product launch.

  • Architecture and design of RF systems with co-existent radio transceivers

  • Design, simulation, and measurement of RF sub-systems

  • Design, simulation, and validation of custom Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Antennas

  • Validation of RF sub-system and system-level performance, including antenna impedance and far-field characteristics, radio receiver sensitivity, system response to external and internal interference, link margin, variance from component and manufacturing process tolerance

  • Working with suppliers to integrate next-generation solutions into our products

  • Interpreting measurement results in the context of regulatory requirements

  • Supporting external partners to ensure consistent quality and performance

About You

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical engineering, or an equivalent degree, with 7+ years product design experience

  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance

  • Strong communication skills through all phases of product development with internal and external partners

  • Experience applying electrical engineering fundamentals to determine the root cause of unexpected RF system behavior

  • Experience applying wireless systems fundamentals to determine coexistence risk

  • Experience with assessing RF-related design trade-offs and communicating risk to stakeholders

  • Experience leading the design of complex RF systems from concept through production

  • Experience linking user needs and system level requirements to an RF system validation plan

  • Experience operating network and spectrum analyzers, OTA measurement systems, signal analyzers

  • Experience with Bluetooth, WiFi, and other consumer wireless protocols

  • Experience with electromagnetics simulation tools such as CST Microwave Studio, Ansys HFSS, or similar

  • High speed design experience is desirable, including HDMI, memory, USB, digital audio, digital video

  • Experience with electronics CAD such as Cadence/Allegro or equivalent is desirable

  • EMC experience debugging emissions and immunity compliance issues is desirable

  • Experience with mentoring of junior engineers is desirable
