Principal Duties and Responsibilities
As a Senior Cloud Engineer - Developer Tools, you will work as an integral part of our Cloud Platform team that will enable all our internal development teams that power our audio devices in the home and on the go. The ideal candidate has a strong background in building a self service, agile and safe developer experience, leveraging cloud capabilities and has deep experience in various programming languages, Kubernetes, software development processes, and microservices architectures.
The specific focus is on automation and optimization of the software development lifecycle for existing microservices, including:
Maintain and enhance existing continuous delivery pipeline for mission-critical cloud services
Drive pipeline innovation by evaluating, piloting, and implementing cutting edge cloud technologies
Select and deploy open-source tools, and build custom tools for deployment, monitoring, and operations
Troubleshoot and resolve issues in our development, test, and production environments
Extensive knowledge of software development and software testing methodologies, and configuration management, especially in regards to Kubernetes systems
Enhance self-service capabilities for developers to write and manage microservices
Evangelize continuous integration and continuous delivery tooling and best practices
Configure and administer our API developer portal
Manage the developer interface with our API gateway
Stay current with technologies, engage in user groups, and identify trends to utilize optimal techniques and tools
Qualifications
Deep understanding of Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, and software development principles
Experience implementing automation through CI/CD pipelines, configuration management tools, and release management using Jenkins, Groovy, and microservices
Experience designing and operating scalable, secure, and high performing Kubernetes platforms
Experience with microservices development (Python, Go, Ruby) and operational maintenance
Experience writing Kubernetes Operators is desired
Experience with Amazon Web Services is desired
Strong background in Linux/Unix administration and scripting
Ability to use a wide variety of open-source technologies and cloud services for debugging, monitoring, and logging
Knowledge of SRE best practices and managing multiple SLAs to multiple customers
A strong eye for security best practices
Passion for developer productivity and experience automating developer pain points
Experience with Kubernetes admission control tools such as OPA and Kyverno
Outstanding communication skills; demonstrated ability to explain complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical audience
Understanding of Agile and other development processes and methodologies
5 or more years working in Cloud DevOps, software development, or network management
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or equivalent
