About the Team

The Bose Product Safety Group is seeking a self-motivated and detail-oriented engineer with a background in International Product Safety certification to support design, testing, and Agency Safety certification submittals of Bose Consumer Audio/Video products.

About the Job

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direction and support to engineering, manufacturing and worldwide sales organizations on issues related to product safety compliance on proposed new product, product in development and released products.

  • Work with Bose New Product and Contract Manufacturer teams to review design concepts, determine applicable certification requirements, applicable standards, construction requirements, and identify regulatory requirements for safety related components.

  • Identify and perform all required safety testing on prototype product to verify compliance to applicable Safety Standards before Agency submittals.

  • Interface with Safety Agencies, prepare all required documentation, schedule and perform all required witness testing and provide additional documentation to obtain Safety Certifications.

  • Review Certification reports generated by Safety Agencies for accuracy and make sure they are placed on the certification database.

  • Provide regulatory support required for product alternate constructions.

  • Work with suppliers, contractors, support staff and management to ensure that product safety is addressed for purchase for resale components and products.

  • Provide support to Manufacturing regarding resolving Agency Factory Inspection non-conformances.

  • Keep current on changes to Worldwide standards, regulations and certification requirements and communicate how they may impact released and products in development.

  • Develops and/or maintains internal safety specifications that apply to products in his/her area of responsibility.

  • Mentor and support internal and Contract Manufacturers safety and development engineers on safety requirements and International regulatory requirements.

  • Negotiate standard interpretations with Regulatory bodies.

  • Responsible for oversight of Contract Manufacturer pre-testing, critical component certifications, certification schedules and product certification.

  • Potential opportunity to develop into a supervisory role.

About You

Qualifications:

  • BS in Electrical or Electrical disciplines is required.

  • 4-6 years of applicable work experience working for or dealing with International Safety Agencies such as UL, TUV, Intertek, SGS, or CQC is required.

  • Must be fluent with UL/IEC62368-1 or similar safety standards.

  • Familiarity with Lithium Battery (ex. UL2054, UL1642, IEC62133-2) standards and certification requirements a plus.

  • Experience with risk assessments (DFMEA, 8D) a plus.

  • Hands on familiarity with test equipment, oscilloscopes, DMM, etc., and ability to perform all necessary safety testing is preferred.

  • Must be proactive and able to work independently with the ability to manage and coordinate several projects in parallel.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with strong written and verbal skills required.

  • Supervisory experience a plus.

  • Must be fluent with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

  • Fluency in English required, Chinese or Spanish a plus.
