Job Description

Bose Corporation is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer who will support our Global Research and Development organization. You will be part of a mechanical engineering team that works in a cross functional, collaborative environment, providing mechanical design and engineering support to help drive products from early concept phases through product launch.

Bose Mechanical Engineers work with interdisciplinary development teams both in our Framingham headquarters, as well as collaboratively with Global Partners. They take an active role in designing products to ensure they continue to provide truly astounding audio and meet aggressive cost models by drawing on deep knowledge in areas such as plastics, metals, environmental compliance, PCBs, aesthetics, and reliability. You will use your technical knowledge, problem solving skills, understanding of materials, experience in product development (audio product experience is helpful but not required), critical analysis skills and teamwork:

Responsibilities:

  • Act as an individual contributor on large project teams. Drive development of complex Parts, Sub-Assemblies and/or features, technical components and/or features.

  • Actively demonstrates skill in risk management and risk mitigation

  • Work on complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures, resulting in the development of refined equipment, materials, processes, products and/or scientific methods.

  • Provide problem identification and solution support from concept stage of new product development to production manufacturing

  • Actively involved in engineering tests to validate the design intent and robustness/margin of the design.

  • Develop solutions to complex problems requiring regular use of ingenuity, creativity, and technical expertise.

  • Interface with internal and external contacts to communicate and evaluate technical information as it relates to the area of specialization.

  • Travel to design and/or manufacturing facilities as necessary to support development partners.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering required: MS preferred

  • 3+ years of experience in the mechanical design and development of high volume consumer electronics products.

  • Proficiency with 3D CAD tools. Preferably NX

  • Experience working with metal forming, plastic part design for injection molding, DFM/A, preferred

  • Sound Engineering Principles: Technical depth in the areas of structural mechanics, vibration and thermal design

  • Strong analytical skills in general engineering assessment and problem solving

  • Experience working with multi-discipline teams, preferred

  • Experience working with Global Contract Manufacturers, preferred

  • Experience with hands on assembly, fabrication, prototype evaluation, manufacturing ramp-up and production release process
