Job Description

We are seeking a talented Electrical Engineer to join the Core Engineering team within Consumer Electronics Division. You will be working with a cross-functional team on a project to ensure the EE architecture, design implementation and validation balance schedule, cost, and performance while following the Bose design process. You’ll join a passionate team with a history of creating innovative consumer electronics products. A successful candidate for this role will have strong electrical engineering fundamentals, a passion to create hardware and an understanding of embedded firmware skills.

Examples of specific tasks that would be undertaken...

  • Gather Electrical requirements at sub-system level and verify the various attributes of new products meet the internal performance goals and cost targets

  • Design, simulation, and verification of mixed signal and embedded systems

  • Provide Schematic entry and PCB layout guidance

  • Ensure rigorous validation of electrical designs including leading electrical design reviews

  • Design, develop and execute validation test plans

  • Measurement of performance of sub-circuits in design prototypes: timing and threshold margins, thermal and supply margins

  • Participate in the Investigation design issues and propose solutions for resolution

  • Supplier communications in investigating new components and in resolution of technical challenges

  • Contract manufacturer communications at different program’s stages to successfully deliver and continue improving our products.

  • Assessing, mitigating, and communicating risks

  • Travel to support prototype builds

  • Working closely with other functional and project leaders to enable successful project launches

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (Masters preferred)

  • 3+ years electronic product design and analysis experience

  • Track record of working on an engineering team

  • Understanding of MCU architectures, and familiarity with writing embedded test codes for hardware verifications

  • Introductory understanding of DSPs and familiarity with algorithm development methodologies for newer technologies

  • Understanding/Experience designing low power circuitry (Linear/Switching)

  • Understanding/Experience with the design of products for regulatory compliance (EMI, UL, FCC or CSA etc)

  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance, but willing to ask questions and learn at a fast pace as well

  • Detail oriented and excellent communication skills

Skills and experience that would be beneficial:

  • Knowledge of fundamental technology relevant to consumer electronic products (HDMI, digital audio, Bluetooth and WiFi)

  • Experience with design and development of consumer electronic products with a focus on low power systems

  • Familiar with C, C++, MATLAB or Python

  • Experience with streaming audio applications

  • Low level understanding of serial interfaces: USB, I2C, I2S, SPI, Ethernet

  • Hands on experience with EMC; Analyzing results from EMC tests, finding root cause and providing counter measures.

  • Experience working closely with other engineering disciplines such as embedded SW, Mechanical, acoustics engineers

  • Experience using Electronics CAD (Cadence)
