About the Team

Advancing our cornerstone technologies requires great people.  We want you to be part of the technical leadership team that brings the best in noise reduction, immersive out-loud audio and personal wearable audio to life.  We are looking for an experienced, hands-on DSP engineering leader who is interested in advancing unique DSP capabilities and applying them to a product development environment.

About the Role

Our DSP staff works in cross-disciplinary teams and develops a wide array of signal processing algorithms used to improve our products. We are looking to grow our staff in support of both 1st-party products and experiences, as well as select technical partnerships that align with our audio focus. You will have the opportunity to advance a variety of exciting technologies that include audio signal processing, voice processing and general algorithm development through direct contribution and oversight of staff members. You will help us combine traditional signal processing methods with ML/AI methods to shape new customer experiences. You will collaborate with a variety of disciplines beyond audio development engineering, including product management, research, embedded software and user experience. Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct ownership of the architecture, design, implementation, and testing of algorithms to solve technical challenges for new high-volume products with a focus on mobile audio devices

  • Demonstrate and deliver new benefits for our customers using innovative applications of technologies like active noise reduction, spatial audio and machine learning

  • Apply technical creativity and industry experience to help define and strengthen new product ideas

  • Work closely with embedded software and system engineering teams to influence future technology roadmaps as well as compute platforms and capabilities

  • Collaborate with our Partnerships Business group to scope and deliver signal processing and algorithms as protected intellectual property to technology partners

  • Expand our DSP team with recruiting of additional internal staff as well leveraging external engineering partners as business needs require

About You

The ideal candidate will have a large subset of the following characteristics:

  • BS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or other Signal Processing related degree, MS strongly preferred.

  • 12+ years of relevant work experience, including personnel management.

  • A strong interest in consumer electronics and audio products

  • Demonstrated expertise in embedded DSP for consumer products, hands-on experience with HiFi-based and Qualcomm processors a plus

  • Demonstrated experience in audio, speech and noise reduction processing.

  • Demonstrable expertise in programming signal processing algorithms using high-level (C, Python, MATLAB) and low-level languages (fixed-point assembly), as well as code optimization experience with production target systems.

  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to discuss complex technical issues with experts in other fields and business stakeholders.

  • Experience with managing and directing experienced technical staff in both onsite and remote environments.
