About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineering Manager to lead our Automation, Infrastructure and DevOps team. In this role, you will you will collaborate with our talented product development staff to create world-class software experiences for our award-winning products. We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Manager to lead our Embedded Software DevOps Team. This role will involve overseeing two teams responsible for Build, Infrastructure, Automation, and cloud-based infrastructure skillsets. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in embedded software development, DevOps practices, and engineering team management.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor teams of DevOps and Automation engineers, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.

  • Strategy and Planning: Develop and execute strategic plans for the Embedded Software DevOps Team to support the company's goals and objectives.

  • Process Improvement: Continuously improve and optimize development processes, tools, and methodologies to increase efficiency, reliability, and scalability.

  • Build and Release Management: Oversee the build and release process for embedded software products, ensuring smooth and timely delivery to customers.

  • Infrastructure/Laboratory Management: Manage and maintain the infrastructure required for embedded software development, including servers, networks, lab environments, and cloud resources.

  • Automation: Drive automation efforts to streamline development, testing, and deployment processes, reducing manual effort and improving reliability.

  • Cloud Resource Management: Manage AWS resources and services used by the DevOps teams, ensuring security, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.

  • Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including software development, QA, and product management, to ensure alignment and successful delivery of projects.

  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks related to build, infrastructure, automation, and AWS operations, ensuring the security and stability of production systems.

  • Performance Monitoring and Optimization: Implement monitoring and alerting systems to track the performance and health of production systems, and proactively optimize as needed.

  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to embedded software development, DevOps, and cloud operations.

About You

  • 7-10+ years of hands-on experience managing automation and/or DevOps teams.

  • Proficiency with modern source control tools (Git/GitHub, Mercurial, etc.).

  • Experience working with Atlassian products (Jira, Confluence, Jira Align, etc.).

  • Experience with the Jenkins CI Platform and understanding of developing CI/CD pipelines and the DevOps Maturity Model.

  • Exposure to Agile/Kanban methodologies.

  • Comfortable working in a hybrid team with members located around the country and around the globe.

  • Excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and critical thinking skills.

  • Ability to organize, prioritize tasks, and manage risks before project escalation.

  • BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.

Nice to have:

  • Experience using and interacting with the Appium mobile test framework.

  • Understanding of embedded software development models.

  • Understanding of developing communication protocols such as Bluetooth.
