About the Role

As an Engineering Manager in our Bose Product Cloud team, you will lead teams of cloud engineers developing consumer-scale, high-performance cloud services that power our next generation devices and experiences. The ideal candidate will bring rich knowledge of best practices and design patterns, along with a strong software engineering background. They will be comfortable and experienced with building and supporting high volume, always-on, mission critical production applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of cloud engineers to design, develop, test, and operate cloud services to support millions of devices and apps in production.

  • As a technical manager this role requires hands-on coding experience 25-50% of the time

  • Provide technical leadership to the team in designing solutions.

  • Work closely with product management, engineering, and operations to develop and execute on product roadmaps.

  • Drive a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the team.

  • Hire, develop, and mentor top engineering talent.

  • Ensure timely delivery of high-quality software releases that meet customer needs.

  • Stay current on the state-of-the-art, plug into user groups, and understand trends to ensure we are using the best techniques and tools.

About You

  • Hands-on coding experience with one of the languages – Java, Python, Go.

  • 10+ years of experience in software development, with at least 3 years of experience in leading software engineering teams.

  • Strong leadership skills and experience in hiring, mentoring, and developing top engineering talent.

  • Need to have experience of managing at least a team of 20+ people in multi-location.

  • Need to have experience of budgeting, including other direct costs.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, collaboration, and presentation skills and experience leading global teams including offshore development teams and partners

  • Deep development experience in cloud microservices, and have built robust, highly scalable, high-performance distributed systems that connect cloud microservices with mobile, web, and/or smart devices.

  • Track record of delivering high-quality software products on time and on budget.

  • Strong familiarity with Agile software development methodology and AWS Cloud architecture and infrastructure best practices

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience building highly available applications on AWS

  • Working knowledge of Microservices architecture, Cloud Infrastructure and SQL/NoSQL database systems a plus

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field

  • Located in the Greater Boston area and can be on-site in Framingham at least 3 days per week.
