Job Summary:

The Controls Engineering Technician position supports customer needs through a blend of Project Engineering and Technician activities. Responsible for engineered control drawings, programming, end to end testing, graphics/customer interface, and servicing on assigned projects. Will be directly responsible to manage technical tasks and deliverables for projects, from beginning to end. Responsibilities include project status and coordination with the project manager and project team. Excellent opportunity for someone who likes variety of work and looking to get exposure to the different functions/roles within the HVAC controls business.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and/or review controls submittals by interpreting mechanical plans and specs, understanding HVAC systems, and Trane Controls Products.

  • Program complicated sequence of operations for HVAC equipment utilizing a function block diagram programming suite.

  • Configure and set up customer’s web based user interface, including graphical representations of HVAC equipment and HVAC Floor

  • Perform Quality Control on new building automation systems. This includes verification of: installation via controls “point to point”, sequence of operations and programming, mechanical system performance verification testing.

  • Communication and coordinate with Mechanical Contractors, Job Site Electricians, and Electrical Sub Contractors.

  • Work effectively with the Project Manager to drive project progress by documenting and communicating project milestones, project status, and resolving project issues as they arise.

Qualifications:

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent required, and typically at least 3-5 years of experience in HVAC/Controls. Technical School or formal training is preferred.

  • Operating knowledge of Microsoft office software and working proficiency with hand held computer (i.e. Smartphone, iPad).

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations including, but not limited to:

  • DUI in the previous 5 years.

  • Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless / Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.

  • Previous experience with DDC controls system preferred.

  • This position requires working in diverse conditions including but not limited to mechanical equipment rooms with exposure to noisy operating equipment, exposure to extreme weather conditions, precarious places, and risk of electrical shock (high voltage).

  • This position is highly physical and requires regular use of hands, fingers, walking, stooping, and kneeling and use of a ladder. It requires employees to regularly lift and or move up to 10 lbs., frequently lift and or move up to 40 lbs. and occasionally lift and or move more than 40 lbs.
