Environmental Manager - Abandoned Mines, Northern Canada

Parsons is looking for an Environmental Manager to join our team to support an abandoned mine opportunity in the Yukon. We are looking for staff who have experience managing environmental program at active or abandoned mines. The successful candidate will provide environmental leadership, expertise and technical assistance to a team supporting care and maintenance operations and remedial construction activities at a unique northern abandoned mine.


Plans and directs environmental monitoring and compliance onsite for both the day-to-day care and maintenance operations as well as remedial construction projects of large scope and complexity.

Supervises hourly personnel as needed in performing their daily work assignments.

Monitors employee's performance, including; safety compliance, absenteeism and tardiness, work practices and adherence to plant and federal rules/procedures/regulations, work efficiency, job tasks and assignments, etc.

Develops and ensures adherence to the Environmental Management Systems and Environmental Management Plans.

Oversee the operations of the onsite laboratory.

Serves as a technical leader and as a recognized expert in field of practice.

Provides regulatory compliance authority.

Prepares proposals and cost estimates.

Maintains affiliation with professional societies to keep abreast of current technologies.

Develops and maintains critical relationships with the client and within the local communities.

Prepares and presents technical papers and reports. .

Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Bachelor's degree in a science curriculum related to the assigned discipline with current Professional Designation in related discipline

10+ years of related work experience including experience as a task leader

Proficiency in various computer software applications typically used within the assigned discipline is required

Requires a demonstrated proficiency in both written and oral communication skills

Thorough understanding of all environmental rules and regulations
