Sodexo Executive Chef 2 in ELKHORN, Nebraska

Sodexo is seeking a motivated Executive Chef 2 to support our partnership with Elkhorn Public Schools in Omaha, Nebraska . Elkhorn is a growing school district with 20+ schools serving over 11,000 students. The Executive Chef will join a close knit leadership team, with a focus on client relationship building in an effort to propel the Child Nutrition program to exciting and innovative heights. The Child Nutrition Program operates the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs (NSLP and NSBP) , under USDA regulations. A successful candidate will understand and successfully run a highly regulated culinary operation while finding creative avenues to offer students fresh and unique dishes. The Executive Chef will make decisions in alignment with Elkhorn’s mission to unite students, families, educators, and the community to ensure a challenging and enriching academic environment that inspires students to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to become responsible citizens and lifelong learners. Culinary certificate or degree needed.

Key Duties

  • Implements & coordinates the culinary function.

  • Provides culinary leadership within a large sized unit including menu planning, program execution and staff management & training.

  • Directs & trains cooks & frontline staff.

  • Works directly with internal and external clients managing the catering process from beginning through execution.

  • Ensures food preparation & production meets operational standards.

  • Manages catering & a la carte areas.

  • Partnering with clients for program planning.

  • Communication with client to ensure and maintain satisfaction.

  • Menu planning in accordance with USDA regulations for National School Lunch/Breakfast Programs.

  • Customer & Client satisfaction.

  • Financial management to include food cost & labor management.

  • Manages food & physical safety programs.

  • Valid driver's license required.

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree or equivalent experience

Basic Management Experience - 2 years

Basic Functional Experience - 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
