This position is in Cargill’s animal nutrition and health business, where we improve animal lives through better nutrition. Our team researches, innovates and creates solutions that deliver healthy results for our customers.

Job Purpose and Impact

The Maintenance Technician will perform general grounds keeping and general housekeeping/maintenance activities to include working in agricultural barns. In this role, you will be responsible for working safely and following general guidelines/protocols.

Key Accountabilities

  • Contribute to continuous evaluation and improvement of experimental methodology, daily routines and procedures.

  • Maintain safe working conditions according to company safety program, meeting animal welfare standards.

  • Support maintenance and infrastructure projects through instructing contractors and vendors, or by hands on repairs, inspections, problem resolution and installation of equipment.

  • Participate in building and maintenance projects to provide the best cost results that meet timelines and project scope.

  • General grounds keeping including, but not limited to: mowing lawns, weed control, trimming hedges, maintaining sprinkler systems, and snow removal.

  • Contribute as a valuable maintenance resource for every team and function.

  • Handle complex clerical, administrative, technical or customer support issues under minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.

  • Participate in animal husbandry activities, in accordance with predefined protocols and standard operating procedures.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma, secondary education level or equivalent

  • Minimum of four years of related work experience

  • Experience in safety and maintenance

  • Experience with computer usage

  • Ability to work overtime, nights, 1 weekend every 4 weeks and 2 holidays per year.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical knowledge and understanding of mechanic systems

  • Experience with animal production systems and animal husbandry
