The Brick Marketing Manager - Maternity Leave Contract in Edmonton, Alberta

The Brick home office in Edmonton is looking for a Marketing Manager (12 Month Maternity Leave Contract) to join our marketing team. This position will play a key role in the execution of The Brick’s advertising promotions and initiatives. They will support the marketing committee in developing programs to promote The Brick, our products, and our services. While much of your daily activities will be focused on the execution of the 2025 strategic marketing plan, you are also responsible for ongoing reporting/communication of marketing results to the Director of Marketing.

Some marketing goals include maintaining the brand integrity of The Brick and strategically positioning The Brick as the top source for home furnishing products. Successful candidates will coordinate with the marketing team and external agency partners to manage advertising initiatives and projects. This individual must be aware of current trends and react quickly to changes in the industry or at The Brick.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Marketing Committee to determine an advertising strategy and calendar that’s flexible depending on current business and market trends.

  • Manage and lead the promotions and digital teams to plan and coordinate TV, radio, flyer, ROP, out-of-home, digital advertising and in-store collateral in accordance with our promotional advertising calendars.

  • Work closely with internal team members and external partners to effectively communicate The Brick's message in marketing and communication materials.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key internal partners and vendors to positively influence and form our advertising plans.

  • Ensure that all materials are developed and distributed according to production timelines.

  • Operate and manage an annual marketing budget that meets evolving business objectives and KPI’s.

  • Manage day-to-day relationships and negotiate with outside vendors for marketing products and activities.

  • Work with Legal and internal stakeholders to ensure advertising compliance standards are being met and adhered to.

  • Help to ensure all products, services, and other offerings champion our “Saving You More” brand identity.

  • Work with designers, writers, and other creative staff to produce marketing collateral in accordance with company and brand standards.

  • Monitor, evaluate, and report on competitor and market activities; make recommendations based on findings/opportunities discovered.

    Other job responsibilities include planning grand openings and in-store events, leading our sports and brand integrations strategy/process, and executing exciting contests for our loyal customers.

  • Qualifications

  • Sound knowledge of advertising strategy with experience in media buying, planning, communications, and project management.

  • Strong decision-making capabilities.

  • Your communication skills are second to none, both written and verbal.

  • Highly effective organization, prioritization, and time management skills to meet deadlines.

  • You understand relationship building is the key to overall team success.

  • Strategic thinker who listens carefully to understand challenges and then looks to collaborate on the most effective solution.

  • Ability to provide leadership and work effectively within a cross-functional team environment that can include many reporting levels and varying skills/competencies.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • A quick learner. The ability to absorb new ideas and concepts quickly and ensure they are clearly communicated to an audience.

  • Strong knowledge in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.

  • Ability to manage and coordinate the end-to-end development process, including budgeting, while meeting deadlines.

    Education & Experience:

  • Post-secondary degree in Business, Marketing or Communications.

  • Minimum 3 years of leadership experience in Marketing or Communications; preferably in the broadcast and print media space.

  • Demonstrated experience in the retail industry.

  • Background experience in managing large budgets.

  • Bilingual in English and French considered an asset.

    Bilingualism (French, English – oral and written) is required for the frequent interactions with English and Fre nch-speaking customers within our stores, colleagues and/or internal partners/suppliers across Canada
