The SVP, Real-Time Settlement (RTS) is charged with developing and executing strategic and commercial plans to achieve above market growth in delivering through development, Real-Time Settlement. RTS is a multi-payer provider facing solution that gives providers same-day liquidity, reducing administrative expense in revenue cycle management. RTS provides cumulative value to customers with modular components of claim generation (auto-coding and claim creation) and clearing (integrity + pricing).

We provide our customers with the latest in innovative solutions that are aimed at eliminating friction in the healthcare system. The SVP, Real-Time Settlement will have direct responsibility for the development and deployment of new, innovative, and disruptive RTS products in the marketplace, managing through the product development lifecycle process. You will have direct accountability for the profitable growth and deployment of the overall RTS portfolio and will work directly with customers and internal and external partners to deliver on customer commitments. The senior executive is expected to be a liaison across multiple business segments to deliver on our out-year growth strategy specific to Real-Time Settlement. This leader will work across Optum and UHG to ensure the business case and the return on investment is being validated at the Optum Insight level.

The SVP, Real-Time Settlement will be accountable for driving financial management and operationalization efforts across the portfolio of new products. You will have indirect accountability for the successful client and cost delivery through matrixed operations team, automation teams and other groups required to deliver upon our aggressive growth objectives. The successful candidate must be passionate about driving innovative and disruptive new products, creating new markets, discovering new business opportunities and is exceptional at working in a fast-paced environment and displays stellar executive presence with C-Suite executives. The SVP, Real-Time Settlement will be directly aligned with our head of Innovation leader.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Driving disruptive innovation and pushing the organization to act to deliver capabilities that enable growth.

  • Serves as an Executive partner to senior leaders across OI, Optum, external partners, and clients to engage in designing new transformational products/businesses.

  • Communicating to Optum and enterprise executives to provide frequent strategy and tactical performance updates.

  • Establishes a shared product, solution, or service vision across the enterprise by building consensus on priorities leading to product execution, and ensuring that the product, solution, or service is aligned with Optum’s brand, strategic and competitive position, and other related/interfaced product, solution, or service.

  • Ideate net-new product and business initiatives within the RTS portfolio that could drive revenue opportunities for OI/Optum/UHG.

  • Formulate go-to-market strategy and identifies opportunities for new clients, markets, and service offerings.

  • Establishes metrics that inform the success of products, including the feature sets, business requirements, and measures of success of an overall roadmap, aligned with business strategy and customer needs.

  • Manages key client and customer relationships to ensure their ongoing satisfaction and loyalty toward the organization. This requires simultaneously managing relationships with multiple key internal customers, including engineering, sales, account management, operations, user experience design, marketing, business development.

  • Makes authoritative technical and/or professional recommendations that have a significant short-term and long-term impact on the business. Integrates usability studies, research, market analysis, solution validation, and design thinking into product, solution, and service requirements to enhance user satisfaction.

  • Understands the applicable regulatory and legal requirements for product, solution, and service offerings; uses privacy, cybersecurity and other compliance by design concepts to ensure product, solution or service offerings are compliant on launch and throughout end-to-end life cycle; leads and manages efforts to audit/attest to such compliance.

  • Managing and growing a P&L and delivering against financial objectives: revenue and IOI targets.

  • Provide exceptional people leadership with a focus on engaging, developing, and retaining key executives as well as attracting top talent into the organization.

Required Qualifications:

  • 15 or more years of combined experience and a proven record of launching large-scale product innovations and delivering measurable results.

  • Proven ability to analyze complex market opportunities and develop creative solutions to a wide variety of unique market problems.

  • Demonstrated track record of active collaboration, engagement, oversight, and strategy development of key growth opportunities.

  • Experience leading and growing the P&L of a solutions business in a healthcare or technology organization.

  • Skilled in organizational development, budget and resource development, and strategic planning.

  • Manage team of high-performing leaders supporting a portfolio of ideation and incubation initiatives.

  • Demonstrated visionary thinking and ability to translate business strategies that create or sustain competitive advantage.

  • A demonstrated record of acting as an innovative thought leader and business partner to executives across multiple business units.

  • Has functioned as the organization’s authority and established expert to develop solutions based on an understanding of the business environment, competitive landscape, and objectives.

  • Experience motivating, developing, coaching, and guiding people in a matrixed organization through change.

  • Experience managing a team plus indirect staff across multiple geographies.

  • Possess personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to Optum’s Vision and Values.

  • Available for limited business travel (approx. 25%).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA / Master’s degree

  • 15+ years of combined experience in product management, delivering new product delivery and leading strategic go-to-market initiatives of diverse scope in a large matrixed healthcare or software company.

  • Experience supporting Optum Markets (Payers, Employers, Providers, Federal/State government, Emerging Markets).

  • Experience working across UHG, Optum and UHC lines of businesses.

  • Understanding of Fintech & healthcare landscape.

Residents Only: The salary range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island, Washington or Washington, D.C. residents is $250,000-$350,000 per year. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
