OptumRx is looking for a curious and self-motivated individual to identify and develop strategies that leverage the full breadth of Optum assets to solve healthcare’s biggest challenges in the area of pharmacy services. This role will be responsible for understanding the needs of industry partners and developing business solutions using the data and capabilities of Optum. We are looking for people that can collaborate with business partners, anticipate future industry needs, and have strong financial acumen.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Anticipates senior leadership team needs and proactively develops solutions to meet them.

• Solves complex problems and develops innovative solutions.

• Accountability for developing contract offer drug pricing for large pharmacy groups, long term care pharmacies, and independent pharmacy in the US.

• Develops the pharmacy networks yielding a geographically competitive, broad and focused access, stable that achieves objectives for cost performance and trend management producing an affordable and predictable product for customers and business partners

• Demonstrate understanding of complex contract language in order to assess financial, non-financial and operational impact and legal implications of requested contract changes

• Forecasts and plans for contract values to be determined by offers for contracting and network teams.

• Analyze network and/or provider performance along key indicators (e.g. compliance with regulatory audits; financial performance; Benefit Cost Ratio; risk adjustment scores; prevalence rates; Unit Cost Reduction ) in order to determine which programs to implement and/ or modify

• Develops tool kits for contract managers, showing levers for value.

• Authorizes deviations from standards.

• Review work performed by others and provide recommendations for improvement.

• May lead functional or segment teams or projects.

• Pharmacy network contract template support and development

• Provides explanations and information to others on the most complex issues.

• Motivates and inspires other team members.

Required Qualifications:

• Undergraduate degree or experience may be substituted for one another on a year for year basis

• 5+ years of experience working across a matrix environment to deliver financial goals

• 5+ years of work experience in strategic and business development roles, ideally in related industry (Pharmacy Benefit Management, Pharmaceuticals, Life Sciences, etc.)

• 5+ years of experience developing product pricing & utilizing financial modeling in making rate decisions

• 5+ years of experience interacting with executive leadership

• 5+ years of experience leading a team of direct reports

Preferred Qualifications:

• Advanced degree – Finance or Accountancy

• RPh or legal degree

• Experience with large scale negotiations (min 2B/contract or greater)

• Experience with client presentations (verbal and PowerPoint creation)

• Sales Experience

Soft Skills:

• Strong communication and influencing skills with internal and external stakeholders

California, Colorado, Nevada, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Hawaii, Washington, or Washington D.C Residents Only: The hourly range for California, Colorado, Nevada, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Hawaii, Washington, or Washington D.C residents is $66.25 to $91.10 per hour. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
