Experienced Principal Data Scientist with prior Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning experience to implement mission-focused solutions emphasizing data-driven decision making. The selected candidate should have experience in multiple related technologies and have the ability to architect custom solutions and provide technical direction to multiple Agile teams concurrently.

Primary Responsibilities:
Participate in Agile Development process
Provide Tier 3 support to user community
Mentor existing resources and new hires
Develop complex SQL code
Monitor and tune SQL code to optimize Snowflake performance on multiple Petabyte enterprise data warehouses
Develop complex python programs for Fraud, Waste, and Abuse investigative purposes
Develop ETL solutions for migrating/ingesting source system data into an enterprise data warehouse at scale
Develop, test, document SAS code refactored into Python. Ability to develop using HTML, XML, and JSON
Develop, test, and maintain complex semantic layers for enterprise class healthcare claims data warehouses
Deliver solutions that use AWS Glue, CloudTamer, Airflow, and S3
Experience with Geographic Information Systems

Required Qualifications:
15+ years of Data Science and/or business intelligence systems
15+ years of experience performing SQL programming on petabyte data warehouses using at least 3 different database engines, such as Snowflake, Sybase, Teradata, SQL Server, MySQL, etc.
10+ years of experience developing ETL to load data warehouses
10+ years of experience developing applications in languages such Python, Java, SQL, HTML, and C
5+ years of experience implementing healthcare FWA applications, especially related to Medicare
5+ years of experience optimizing physical database design and performance of multi-petabyte enterprise data warehouses
US citizen or Authorized to Work and lived in the US for 3 of the last 5 years. Must be able to obtain a U.S. Federal government client badge and pass a government Public Trust
Preferred Qualifications:
5+ years of experience related to CMS systems, particularly the Integrated Data Repository and programs such as One PI
3+ years of experience with Agile
Expertise with Agile tools like JIRA, Confluence, Slack etc.
Excellent communication skills and proven ability to work with product and program management teams, Agile development teams, and external stakeholders

The salary range for this role is $89,800 to $176,700 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
