As Capabilities Product Owner, you will be an active member of Optum Capabilities Team supporting a wide spectrum of innovated business with a primary focus on Frontier Therapies Team responsible for owning, maintaining, and prioritizing pharmacy system design, implementation, and strategy. This role will collaborate with various business function subject matter experts, IT architecture, business analysts, IT sourcing, and external vendors as required to support design, implementation activities, and iterative development to support evolving business requirements.

The Capabilities Product Owner is empowered by the business to make decisions to assure the delivery of product value through Agile development cycles. Additionally, the Product Owner is responsible for building best in class pharmacy management systems and processes to support business strategy. As Capabilities Product Owner, you will enforce quality controls and be solely responsible in accepting project deadlines that meet defined scope and project objectives.

A Capabilities Product Owner is the critical “translator” and “facilitator” between business teams (operations, clinical services, compliance/privacy, and clients) and technology teams. This role is all about collaboration and communication to drive clear, structured product requirements through successful communication and documentation disciplines.

This role will be the voice of the pharmacy operations team to build cross-functional relationships, and a desire to quickly develop deep subject matter expertise in the business services and customer / client perspectives.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with key business stakeholders and subject matter experts to define business requirements, level of effort, integration requirements, system budgets, and ensure obstacles are solved in a manner that enables a measurable positive experience or outcome

  • Elicit business requirements from stakeholders; document business requirements; identify problems that need to be solved; understand stakeholder pain points, and any roadblocks to growth

  • Proactively communicate with business stakeholders to bring alignment and awareness to the product backlog, adjust priorities where necessary, and ensure the business teams can prepare for and participate in feature releases that have operational impact

  • Develop strong working knowledge of the industry, client, and key stakeholder trends; leverage this information to support the continuous improvement of business services with custom built solutions or integrations

  • Author features and stories aligned with product vision and business objectives

  • Work closely with solutions architects, data architects, and broader development resources to jointly design and define solutions

  • Represent the voice of the business, groom Product backlog, prioritize features, manage acceptance criteria, participate in daily scrum activities, and maximize Product value, participate in sprint / PI planning, and coordinate deliverable demonstrations to stakeholders

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of business analyst and/or product owner experience

  • 2+ years of experience writing features/user stories, requirements, testing and collaborating with Development/Engineering teams

  • 2+ years working knowledge of system development life cycle concepts and Agile methodology

  • Experience achieving goals in a matrix environment, working collaboratively to influence others

  • Experience developing and delivering formal presentations, including organized visuals, for stakeholders

  • Experience translating business processes and into analytical solutions

  • Experience using an Agile development platform such as Rally or Jira (or similar Agile platform) to manage development backlogs

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel and PowerPoint, and an ability to easily learn and adopt new technology tools

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Agile/Scrum certification

  • Healthcare/Pharmacy business experience

  • Software Development experience

  • eNav pharmacy management platform knowledge

  • Proficiency using Visio

The salary range for this role is $89,800 to $176,700 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
