We are seeking a highly motivated BI /analytics Engineer to join our Optum team. The successful candidate will have strong experience in developing, maintaining, and managing advanced reporting, analytics, dashboards, and other BI solutions. The candidate must possess in-depth knowledge of Power BI, with a track record of utilizing all its facets including modeling, calculated columns, measures, security, and application integration. Experience working with Fabric capacity Lakehouse/Direct Lake, and various data sources such as ADLS, Snowflake, and other big data sources is required.

The BI & Analytics Engineer will help create new Reports and Dashboards, has an understanding of data, IT analysis and organization and the ability to understand the technical manifestation of business concepts, especially related to payer operation, reporting and analytics.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Analyze current business practices, processes and procedures and identify future business opportunities for leveraging data storage and retrieval system capabilities

  • Extract, analyze, aggregate, and interpret data with In-depth knowledge of ETL, OLAP and OLTP concepts

  • Perform quantitative analysis on healthcare operational data (Claim, Eligibility etc.)

  • Develop, review, and analyze detailed data sets leveraged for client reporting/analytics. Using Warehouse data, generate reports to support business decision-making and business performance monitoring

  • Quality Assurance, ensuring strict data quality• Design, develop and maintain business intelligence solutions crafting and executing queries upon request for data.

  • Translate business needs to technical specifications and build high-quality BI applications to meet these needs.

  • Present information through reports and visualizations via ( Power BI preferably) – effective in data storytelling.

  • Integrate BI solutions with Azure services including but not limited to ADLS, Snowflake, and other RDBMS and Big Data sources.

  • Design, develop, and test BI solutions such as reports, dashboards, and ad hoc data explorations.

  • Enforce data security and compliance with all relevant regulations and best practices.

  • Define models for the following: star schema, composite, hybrid, and aggregate

  • Assist with transitioning existing reports to modern data platforms

  • Build dashboards and reports from scratch and also repoint them to newer data sources

  • Follow Agile software development lifecycle

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in the field of Data Analysis, ETL, Reporting, Business Intelligence including source data analysis, profiling, and reporting

  • 5+ years of experience in design, development and/or implementation of sizeable BI/Analytics solutions for healthcare analytics

  • 5+ years of experience in writing SQL queries

  • 3+ years of experience with migrating reports and ETLs (Preferably to Power BI / MicroStrategy/ SAS ) from legacy databases like Hive, Oracle to Snowflake

  • 3+ years of experience in Snowflake

  • Solid hands-on and in-depth understanding on DWH/BI/Analytics concepts and proficient in Data Visualization

  • Able to study, analyze and understand business requirements in context to business intelligence

  • Power BI

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Power BI including modeling, calculated columns, measures, DAX, M/PB Power Query transformations, security, and integration

  • Proven experience working with Fabric OneLake Lakehouse/Direct Lake, data storage and databases such as ADLS, Snowflake, and other Big Data sources

  • Near real-time data processing, or PBI hybrid table for real-time data

  • Experience with Power BI Security techniques. This is a healthcare customer and security integral to the success of this initiative

  • Experience with Power BI Embedded and PBI QnA

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of exposure to Python and /or Azure machine learning

  • Experience with HIPAA Compliance

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $88,000 to $173,200 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
