The Compensation Coordinator is a new position within Direct Care and Treatment Human Resources (DCT HR). The Compensation Coordinator leads the consultation and coordination efforts within compensation administration, HR delegation maintenance, and compensation process improvement activities with a focus on pay equity. The Compensation Program Manager will develop and coordinate implementation, maintenance, and auditing of DCT’s delegated compensation authority from the state.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide advanced consultation to DCT management, HR team members, and employees on compensation matters. Administer agency employee compensation program consistent with the agency’s delegation of authority for employee compensation from Minnesota Management and Budget.

  • Establish and develop ongoing compensation related policies, processes, and quality controls to build DCT’s compensation program.

  • Manage pay equity analysis process and approvals for DCT. Ensure that process is created and implemented using an equity lens.

  • Assist in the research, development, dissemination and implementation of bargaining negotiations, policies, and procedures that impact compensation for DCT. Lead and assist in special projects and other duties as assigned.

The Compensation Coordinator has access to Labor Relations (LR) information as defined in M.S. 13:37; participates in meetings where agency and state labor negotiations proposals are discussed and evaluated; provides data and information to labor negotiations as it relates to workgroup, job allocation, and selection issues; and prepares written proposals for presentation at collective bargaining with other members of the HR/LR function.

Minimum Qualifications

4 year’s advanced Human Resources experience leading compensation analysis and demonstrating the following:

  • Extensive knowledge of compensation principles, practices, and laws.

  • Advanced research and analytical skills including analytical analysis of data, including pivot tables, charts and graphs.

  • Ability to present data and recommendations to management and build consensus on decisions.

  • Critical thinking and strategic planning skills sufficient to analyze and evaluate complex information, research and evaluate alternatives, independently make sound decisions, resolve conflicts and provide guidance on a variety of HR issues.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with State of Minnesota compensation system

  • Work experience in a 24/7 operation

  • Experience with HRIS technology platforms.

  • Self-starter who thrives under minimal supervision, demonstrating a proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making

  • Experience interpreting current employment laws, regulations, and policies related to classification, recruitment, selection, hiring, promotion, and/or retention of employees.

  • Variety of experiences working effectively with others from different backgrounds and cultures.
