About the Job:

An opportunity has arisen for a Culinary Intern to join the Food and Beverage team at Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab. The main duties and responsibilities of this role:

• Preparing the mise-en-place and handling food preparation as well as assisting with food presentation as part of the kitchen brigade.

• Assemble and prepare ingredients for menu items. Prepare simple food items.

• Assist with checking, receiving, and storing goods. Maintain storage areas.

• Maintain a hygienic kitchen and high standards of personal hygiene.

• Assists with the cleaning, sanitation, and organization of the kitchen, walk-in coolers, and all storage areas Performs additional responsibilities, although not detailed, as requested by the Sous Chef, Jr sous chef, Chef de partie

• Demonstrate flexibility and volunteer to fill open shifts as required by variations in staffing.

• Follow the HACCP system setup and as trained

• Work to the specifications received by the Chef de Partie regarding portion size, quantity, and quality as laid down in the recipe index

• Attend daily meetings with the Chef de Cuisine and other meetings as requested by the Executive Chef/Executive Sous Chef

About you:

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following experience and qualifications:

• Willing to work in a team

• Demonstrate a passion for quality and cooking

• Able to deal with people different nationalities and religions

• At least 5 years in the kitchen

• Completed kitchen apprentice or chefs training courses for at least one year
