About the Job:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head of Sales to join the world famous Burj Al Arab Jumeirah. As the Head of the commercial function in Sales & Marketing, reporting to the General Manager and Regional Vice President of Burj Al Arah Jumeirah, the Head of Sales will lead a dynamic team to ensure ultimate achievement of the commercial targets for hotel. They will be the driver for the Sales & Events team achieving their budgeted goals and individual targets.

The Head of Sales will provide leadership, coaching and being a role model for Burj Al Arab Jumeirah. They will also build and maintain positive relationships with key partners while setting and monitoring strategic goals.

The Head of Sales will lead a team who cover a global set of geographic markets and market segments. They will be a role model for their team and the division while being an ambassador for Sales & Marketing within the wider hotel. This individual will also be tasked with developing and maintaining excellent relationships with key partners and setting and monitoring strategic sales goals.

The Head of Sales will remain acutely aware of the competitive landscape and communicate key events that might have an impact on the hotel.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Sets and monitors annual commercial plan goals and sales targets.

  • Provides leadership in entrepreneurial sales activities.

  • Ensures departmental policies and procedures are in place and adhered to.

  • Ensures Jumeirah Brand Standards are adhered to.

  • Continuously review procedures and processes within the department to achieve maximum profit, productivity, and efficiency.

  • Continuously review product and branding to ensure we are selling creatively and on brand.

  • Always maintains a high standard of personal appearance.

  • Liaises with relevant departments to ensure all client needs and requests are met.

  • Maintains effective communication, with regular 1-2-1 and team meetings.

  • Identifies and builds productive relationships with business partners.

  • Leads the creation of flexible solutions to attract new and potential customers.

  • Coaches and is a mentor for the Sales & Events team.

  • Complies with all regional reporting requirements in the said timeframe.

  • Represents the hotel at Road Shows, Trade shows and management events.

  • Determines and implements the balance of business mix into the hotel.

  • Provides on the job and external training for colleagues in the department as required.

  • Any other duties may reasonably be requested by the management.

  • Identifies partners to drive short & long-term sales strategies.

  • Designs sales strategies to influence positively local market trends.

  • Guides, coaches to confidently deliver flexible solutions to client needs.

  • Proactively creates and leads business-growth & networking opportunities.

  • Develops partner relationships to identify and assist in future industry trends.

  • Uses expectations to guide strategic sales plans.

  • Develops relationships to gain deep understanding of business potential for guiding, meeting, and exceeding customer needs.

  • Proactively creates & leads business networking to meet strategic targets.

  • Ensure that the performance of sales colleagues achieves Services Level Agreements.

  • Ensure the systems within Jumeirah enable the delivery of SLAs.

  • Set long and short-term strategic outputs for customer service.

  • Lead the development of flexible solutions which are attractive to customers.

  • Undertakes all job tasks competently.

  • Identifies and evaluates business trends/needs and uses this information to set and review departmental objectives.

  • Ensures clear Standard Operating Procedures are developed, communicated, updated, and implemented to ensure compliance with ISO and Quality.

  • Reviews monthly KPIs and Balanced Score Cards.

  • Reviews and processes Sales Incentive Plan.

  • Liaises closely with all departments within the hotel particularly Revenue Management, Front Office, Food & Beverage, and Finance.

  • Attends internal meetings as required by the function.

  • Establishes and maintains good guest relations and rapport with all clients and colleagues.

  • Ensures that all colleagues have a complete understanding of relevant Hotel SOPs including those relating to fire, hygiene, health, and safety.

About you:

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following experience:

Essential Experience

  • At least 8 years of working experience in Leadership roles for at least 5 years in a luxury five-star hotel environment with excellent global understanding of Sales.

  • Excellent written and spoken English skills.

  • Additional language is an advantage.

  • Knowledge of hotel operating system.

  • Handling guest requests and exceeding their expectations.

This candidate should be a quick learner and adapt to a new work environment as well as to be able to successfully manage multiple stakeholders.
