About the Job:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Director - Governance and Compliance to Lead and direct the Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts Governance, Risk & Compliance function through the development of governance, risk & compliance strategies, policies, processes, procedures, delegation of authority’s matrices and guidelines to mitigate the risks and implement necessary procedures to ensure compliance with company's policies, laws and regulations.

About the role:

  • Strategy & Framework:

  • Lead the development of Governance, Risk & Compliance (transactional / internal and regulatory) strategy and framework incorporating the control points integrated project management and business objectives to assist the Group to ensure management of governance and risks and to ensure relevant compliance procedures are implemented.

  • Governance:

  • Create, adopt and implement best practices in Corporate Governance for the company. Develop corporate policies in line with DH corporate guidelines. Contribute to the set up and review of internal governance structures for various functions. Support Internal Audit /Government Audit teams to identify process gaps and opportunities for improvement.

  • Enterprise Risk Management:

  • Assist CEO with Risk Management Framework implementation across the Group, promoting a risk culture and ensuring risks are managed appropriately by Risk Owners.

  • Conduct risk assessment and oversee the monitoring and implementation of mitigation plans.

  • Ensure competent Risk Champions are in place across all portfolios.

  • Monitor Risk Management Framework’s compliance and risk position and response strategies.

  • Ensure that significant risk issues are appropriately escalated to the CEO

  • Update risk register and report to CEO and DH Head of ERM on major risks.

  • Compliance Function’s core responsibilities:

  • Identify, assess and monitor the Compliance Risks faced by the Group

  • Assist, support and advise Executive Management in discharging their Compliance obligations.

  • Advise any employee with respect to their Compliance obligations, thereby helping the Group to carry on business successfully and in conformity with the Rules and internal standards.

  • Compliance and Enterprise Risk Management framework is approved and in place.

  • Compliance and risk management programs in place, approved and implemented.

  • Risk assessment and mitigation policies and processes are in place and implemented

  • Budget, Compliance, Improvement & Reports:

  • Develop and manage operational plans and budgets for the department in line with the approved business plan and monitor actual Vs budget cost. Ensure compliance with Group’s policies, processes, procedures and practices followed by departmental staff to fulfill the business objectives. Provide inputs and suggestions for the continuous improvement of departmental/section practices considering ‘international best practice’, changes in international standards and changes in the business environment which demand proactive action plans in line with company objectives. Review relevant reports prepared by the team to provide timely and accurate information to the Senior Management for making informed decisions.

About you:

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following experience:

  • 5 - 9 years in Governance, Compliance and Risk Management with at least 3 to 5 years in senior managerial within a corporate environment and relevant industry.

  • CA or any equivalent certification is a must.

  • Knowledge of Governance, Risk & Compliance techniques and methods.

  • Governance Framework Development

  • Stakeholder engagement

  • Business Continuity and Crisis Management

  • Problem solving & decision-making skills

  • Project Management skills
