About the Job:
An opportunity has arisen for Assistant Manager – Legal to join our Retail and Residential team. The main duties and responsibilities of this role:
The role holder is responsible for providing timely legal advice and services to the retail and residential business units of DHAM, adhering to corporate governance and compliance measures; and leasing best practices. The role holder is responsible for managing the leasing caseload and report to the Head of Retail and Residential – Legal.
Provide legal advice and opinion to mitigate against legal and contractual risk and be business point of contact for leasing caseload.
Draft, negotiate, review, and advise on transactional legal instruments / documents / written communications, in particular: asset transfer agreements, retail and residential leases, variations, assignments, special conditions, heads of terms, framework agreements, MOUs, NDAs, templates, due diligence and legal reports.
Negotiate and enter discussions on behalf of DHAM with external parties on all retail and residential transactions and always protect the organization’s interests.
Review templates in line with Legal Department Policies & Procedures and revise the same with input from the Head of Retail and Residential – Legal.
Ensure that legal documentation is received in full and coordinate with the relevant parties for the provision of required additional/missing information and ensure DHAM legal maintains up to date records of all transactions.
Provide on-going strategic and tactical advice and support on residential and retail matters.
Ensure compliance with local and regional laws and regulations through providing advice and guidance on policy, process, and documentation.
Provide legal services to the Executive Director – Legal as may be required from time to time on corporate governance related matters.
Seek and ensure that all necessary approvals as per the Delegation of Authorities as well as compliance policies are procured from all concerned parties before engrossing the agreements and dispatching for signing.
Meet with the business units to discuss the terms and conditions of the agreements, respond to their inquiries, and provide legal advice and information/documents as may be requested.
Coordinate with the Head of Retail and Residential – Legal on work strategy and approach, response timelines and assignment of the legal work and responsibilities.
Prepare, in coordination with the Head of Retail and Residential – Legal, monthly, and quarterly reports as may be required to report on the legal function and services to DHAM management.
Report to the Head of Retail and Residential – Legal on all matters which may materially affect the creditworthiness or goodwill of DHAM or its Parent Company/Shareholders and on such other matters as would in the opinion of a prudent in-house legal manager warrant the attention of the DHAM management.
About you:
Bachelor's degree (preferably in Law) and at least 6 years of post-qualification legal experience in a law firm or in-house legal department.
A Paralegal qualification is preferred.
The ideal candidate should have strong English communication skills (legal Arabic is a plus), legal translation experience, and advanced knowledge of legal and corporate compliance.
Must be proficient in contract production, UAE legislation, legal research, drafting, and report writing.
Attention to detail, the ability to handle pressure and deadlines, exercise discretion with confidential matters, and strong MS Office skills are essential.
