National Grid National Systems Manager - Hybrid in Devon, United Kingdom

Job Purpose

In this role you'll be responsible for managing the DUoS, MPRS and National Change departments as well as the Smart Meter Administration to ensure the following overall objectives are met successfully:-

DUoS: Ensuring the billing and collection of 2.2bn annually of DUoS income and maximising NGED DUoS cash flow by:-

  • Billing promptly and accurately.

  • Dealing with supplier enquiries promptly and efficiently.

  • Following up debts promptly and consistently.

MPRs & National Change Departments: Provision of an efficient registration service to all suppliers and other market participants within the constraints of the 1998 trading arrangements, and provision of expert advice to management and staff on all aspects of registration and the settlement system.

Responsible for NGED’s input to, and interface with, the National Electricity Trading Arrangements to ensure that NGED recognise and comply with legal/compliance requirements from the following regulatory bodies:

  • OFGEM

  • ELEXON

  • RECCo

  • DESNZ

  • SECCo

Smart Metering: Overseeing the Administration of the NGED National Smart Meter System by ensuring systems and processes are operated in accordance with SEC and DCC requirements, and systems and processes are operated in accordance with NGED “smart” policies and procedures.

Team Management: You will have a team of 4-5 managers reporting to you with a total team of 24 including direct reports across the different departments. You'll need to be comfortable with budgeting, supervising, and monitoring performance of all team members and ensure all staff are trained and developed as necessary.

Knowledge and experience

  • As this role involves oversight of a large successful team previous Management experience is required

  • Knowledge of National Agreements, specifically National Electricity Trading arrangements.

  • Deep understanding of the DUoS System.

  • Understanding of the National Smart Meter Programme, and MPRS System.

What's on offer

A competitive salary between £75,000 - £90,000 – dependent on capability

As well as your base salary, you will receive a company car or allowance, a bonus of up to 20% of your salary for stretch performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
