Job Summary:

Assume responsibility for delivery and execution of trade compliance data governance program in support of a standardized, regional import compliance program to support the enterprise for the functional area of responsibility in coordination with the Regional Director of Trade Compliance - Americas. Must have direct experience with data governance.

Work Arrangement: Hybrid; onsite 3 or more days a week and must be located near a Trane Technologies facility

Responsibilities:

  • Supports the strategic development, delivery and execution of a standardized compliant trade data governance program to support the enterprise for the functional area of responsibility in coordination with the Regional Director of Trade Compliance - Americas.

  • Oversees and designs data governance framework at the enterprise level, with a focus on simplifying data management and facilitating use of tools such as machine learning and artificial intelligence.

  • Responsible for querying as well as analyzing data from disparate sources. A thorough understanding of how different tables and fields within a database and from different databases are related is critical.

  • Responsible for centralized management and oversight for HTS, partner government agency (PGA) applicability, ADD/CVD applicability and other trade compliance regulatory requirements.

  • Ability to seamlessly share trade compliance data with other functional stakeholders, including Engineering, Procurement, Logistics, Sales, etc.

  • Identify where existing data lacks the detail or accuracy necessary to support enterprise trade compliance activity. Ensure these gaps are communicated to the data owners.

  • Support the investigations, audits or disclosures regarding the company's import compliance activities in the Americas.

  • Based on audit findings this role will assist with root cause analysis and supporting resolution of compliance issues as needed.

  • Support the Trade Compliance training for the Americas. To be prioritized in accordance with the Regional Director of Trade Compliance - Americas as needed.

  • Stay current in company international Trade Compliance regulations, policies, training, audit programs and Trane Corporate Trade Compliance initiatives for the Americas.

  • Researches trade regulations and rulings, determines regulatory or interpretive basis for each classification, and communicates with internal clients and external service providers.

  • Provide guidance on multiple international Trade Compliance matters as needed.

  • Follows the company's international trade compliance policies in coordination with goals and objectives of the Regional Director of Trade Compliance - Americas.

  • Support the trade compliance related recordkeeping program and reconciliation and automation of the same, organization and maintenance on a regular basis for the appropriate functional area of responsibility as needed.

  • Responsible for daily interaction with compliance service providers to resolve compliance related inquiries and requests.

  • Monitor and manage daily trade compliance related international transaction holds, reviews and information needed without disruption while ensuring compliant transactions.

  • Responsible for identification of areas for process improvement in the daily resolution of trade compliance related international transaction holds and issues.

  • Supports projects as needed.

  • Assist with the development, implementation and keeping current standard operating procedures and work instructions to support functional area of responsibility as needed.

  • Stay abreast of all issues and regulations that impact trade compliance activities through trade publications, communications with service providers and regular reviews of the appropriate government websites and trade association memberships.

  • Liaison with internal departments across business units on regulatory and duty matters as needed.

  • Perform other duties associated with trade compliance as may be required maintaining a customer focused attitude and assisting the Regional Director of Trade Compliance - Americas.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Direct experience in data governance oversight and design. Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience.

  • 5-7 Years of Industry Experience in International trade area

  • Subject matter expertise in relevant areas of import data management (import regulation, classification, valuation, export and import authorizations, import licensing, etc.) is required.

  • Fluency in English oral and written

  • Up to 10% travel

Key Competencies:

  • Strong Excel / Access skills and advanced functions within these applications for efficient data extraction and comparison

  • Ability to effectively navigate database software. Strong understanding of how to locate records, how to build reports and build-in forms in a database.

  • The ability to function both as a team and individual player with the ability to shift priorities as required by the Americas trade compliance team and business operations.

  • Support performance metrics and evaluate internal and external service providers.

  • Demonstrated skills in resolving business challenges

  • Analytical skills, be detailed oriented, and possesses the ability to anticipate problems and diffuse situations.

  • The ability to multitask and ability to work under time constraints and business priorities.

  • Strong knowledge of Oracle and Trade Automation (E2Open) is preferred.

Base Salary: $65,000 - $100,000

Disclaimer: This base pay range is based on US national averages. Actual base pay could be a result of seniority, merit, geographic location where the work is performed.
