What you will do:

Job Summary:

This is an exciting time for Trane Technologies as we grow in our Automation journey. We are looking for performance-driven, innovative engineers who understand the importance of collaboration and customer focus, who understand the importance of automation standardization and help build world-class laboratories to mature technologies before transitioning to the factory floor through internal and external partnerships. The chosen candidates will shape Trane Technologies’ Future Factory Automation Roadmap and direction to be a world-class manufacturing operation.

We are hiring a Senior Controls Engineers in our Davidson, NC office. This resource will be responsible for defining Controls Hardware and supporting PLC, HMI and SCADA standards for automation equipment, as well as standards for how to integrate with other systems.

Essential skills:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Controls Systems

  • Design of complete electrical control systems for automated solutions incorporating all required safety devices to meet current legislation including component specification and selection

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience on control panel design, preparing schematics and understanding pneumatics, hydraulic & safety systems

  • Hands-on experience designing and commissioning automated controls systems

  • Create and/or review detailed documentation of electrical components, including detailed specification drawings and application specification documents

  • Develop and Debug machine control programs for PLC/HMI/Motion Control and interfaces to Robots/Vision systems

  • Experience in developing SCADA/HMI systems with AB and Ignition for assembly line automation

  • Experience in developing GUIs for assembly lines, conveyors and process Automation

  • Experience in programming of AB PLC systems using Ladder Logic

  • Hands-on experience with distributed IO systems interfacing with Remote IO Modules, field devices like Drive systems and Robots, Nut-runners, Sensors, PID’s and other analog instruments with PLC and SCADA systems

  • Hands-on experience on systems like pick & place, servo/hydraulic press machines, conveyor handling, packaging, and robot welding

  • Knowledge of Databases like Oracle, SQL Server and MySQL and experience writing SQL queries to select, insert and update records from SCADA

  • Knowledge of Tag Handling, Tag Historian, Alarms and Events

  • Knowledge of communication protocols such as Serial, Ethernet, ASI & EtherCAT

  • Knowledge on IOT, MQTT, Industry 4.0 technologies, Robot Programming, Vision Systems will be an added advantage

  • Exposure to latest OPC UA technologies, and data exchange between OPC, PLC & SCADA

  • Managing budget, schedule, resources & project risks

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Able to work in a team-based environment with global collaboration

  • Must be an individual contributor for project delivery

  • Mentoring the team for timely delivery with superior quality

Qualifications:

  • Deep knowledge of automation applications with successful development and deployment experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent

  • Deep knowledge of Digital connectivity / IIoT and sensor technology

  • Collaborate with others to foster effective teamwork by linking own responsibilities to the team’s goals and needs - zeal for new information, knowledge, and experiences

  • Manage time and resources to ensure that work is completed efficiently

  • Ensure effective and efficient completion of projects by planning and implementing courses of action with other functions and key stakeholders

  • University degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, System Engineering, or Computer Science

  • Willing to be mobile and travel domestically and globally

  • U.S. citizen or have the legal right to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship now or in the future

Compensation:

Base Pay Range: $110 - $170,000

Total compensation for this role will include a commission/incentive plan. Disclaimer: This base pay range is based on US national averages. Actual base pay could be a result of seniority, merit, geographic location where the work is performed.
