Job Summary:

In this position, you will apply engineering problem-solving to a multitude of cross-functional applications with goals to:
Reduce product physical testing by developing and validating leading-edge modeling capabilities for vapor compression systems across the Enterprise
Lead and support engineering component selection by creating capabilities and technologies to link the product architecture requirements to our existing supply chain
Develop and Support advanced computer vision and manufacturing modeling for our next generation factories
Your application areas will include engineering, manufacturing, service, product management, and marketing.

Understand, drive and consistently apply processes and engineering design tools in a methodical and technical approach to problem solving and product improvement
Apply knowledge, skills, tools, techniques, and standard work to project activities to meet required business case and deliverables
Apply engineering principles in the design, manufacture, operation and sustainment of innovative, efficient, and cost effective equipment, systems and software
Use data and technology to design for desired outcomes
Anticipate possible design weaknesses and failure modes and develop design validation plans to mitigate risk
Qualifications:
Develop and define digital concepts and manufacturing processes for, and as an integral part of, all new product introductions and product enhancement programs, using advanced engineering techniques such as DFM / DFA (Design for Manufacturability and Assembly), FMEA, 3P (Production, Preparation Process), 7-Ways, and Lean Six Sigma Methodology.
Using simulation software, evaluate and implement innovative, cost-effective, safe, manufacturing processes and techniques, which will improve the effectiveness of the manufacturing operations and business systems.
Enable plant MEs to develop manufacturing planning, initial tooling requirements and costs, capability requirements, control plans, and assessments, which facilitate the definition and specification of the manufacturing processes.
Provide modeling and simulation expertise and leadership for the timely resolution of manufacturing process and product design problems. Serve as a resource for cause/effect analyses, investigations, statistical studies, and corrective action planning.
Develop manufacturing flows, workstation layouts and organization, and station controls, which optimize value-added operations, operating costs, and product/process quality.
Integrate closely with various functional team members collaborating while enhancing design for manufacturability and ease of integration to manufacturing facility.
Project management knowledge and skills. Estimates the time and resources required to complete a project for self and cross-functional partners. Develops plan and process for viable project. Maintains and uses lines of communication with other areas to keep project on track. Utilizes common project management tools to track progress (GANT charts, matrix, maps). Brings people together and drives everyone toward a common goal.
Translate customer needs into actionable tasks that drive a solution
Follow and improve upon standard work for the application for users and developers
Collaborate with research and capability development teams
Key Competencies:
Must Have
BS Engineering or equivalent technical degree
5+ years of manufacturing engineering work experience, with experience in fabrication or assembly processes and equipment
Ability to derive salient conclusions from simulation data sets
Proficient with spreadsheet, presentation software and typical computer applications
Proficient with 3D CAD/modeling software
Experience with Delmia Virtual Factory a plus but not required
Experience with detailed requirement gathering from a customer
Ability to understand and document customer use cases
Ability to develop business cases based on technology implementation
Strong written and verbal communication
Ability to travel 25% within the continental region
Ability to teach effectively and influence others at many levels of the corporation
Ability to work effectively and safely in an industrial environment
Experience with leading process changes or business transformations
Preferred
Lean Manufacturing experience
Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent training
Experience with project management, PMP
Experience with simulation, FEA, CFD, or 1D mathematics
Experience facilitating x-functional teams
Experience with new product launches
Scripting language experience (C#, Python, Matlab, VBA, etc.)
