Job Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Product Manager to join our Building Services Commercial HVAC team in a key area of the business. As the Extended Warranty Product Manager , you will be responsible for the extended warranty service product line strategy/roadmap, including partnering with applicable service and product growth teams, managing the product lifecycle, gathering and prioritizing customer requirements, defining the product/service vision, and working closely with claims and quality teams to deliver profitable growth.

As a Product Manager, you must also ensure that all product and marketing efforts support the company’s overall strategy and goals. You will collaborate with sales, marketing and others to ensure our products and services deliver quality outcomes that exceed customer expectations. You will use strong analytical skills to make fact-based decisions to prioritize customer segments with well-designed and delivered products. You will have full responsibility – and accountability – for meeting or exceeding Trane’s organic revenue, market share and contribution margin objectives.

This position may be filled in any of our US offices or fully remote.

Product Management

  • Maintain ongoing field interaction in support of regional operations and sales teams to enable sales and operational execution of the Extended Warranty & Startup portfolio.

  • Integrate extended warranty into and accelerate growth of building, digital and energy services offerings.

  • Visit customers to understand customer needs from their business point of view.

  • Support training of sales teams to educate Account Managers on Extended Warranty fundamentals and sales. Proficiently deliver training and development to small and large groups.

  • Prepare "business pulse" and financial reports on assigned product/service lines on a regular basis to keep portfolio managers and business leaders informed of progress on volume, profitability and quality targets.

  • Maintain focus to deliver on Extended Warranty AOP for Revenue, Margin, and Profitability. Growth and Market Share are key goals.

Strategy & Business Management

  • Lead/coordinate efforts to understand unmet customer needs for new or line extensions.

  • Manage/coordinate standard management activities pertaining to all Extended Warranty efforts include coordinating with various service growth teams (SGT), maintaining key metrics, and conducting required analysis.

  • Maintain a vital product mix by developing and launching next generation extended warranty services, utilizing the Trane Technologies’ business operating system standard work and tools.

  • Conduct regularly scheduled, customer-focused portfolio reviews of all product lines under management, enabling effective decisions related to product lifecycle management (including product rationalization).

  • Coordinate with the marketing and sales teams to review and adjust the Extended Warranty marketing strategy, plan (including targeted programs and promotions) and countermeasures for all existing product/service lines based on performance.

  • Conduct regular industry, market and competitor analysis, including detailed segmentations of end consumers and customers. Quantify growth opportunities that would allow Trane to participate in markets that are growing faster and more profitably.

  • Lead the execution of detailed demand planning for offerings based on input from industry, market and competitor analyses.

  • Lead long-range plan development, P&L and yearly operating planning.


  • Must be able to travel 35-40% of the time.

  • Minimum of 5 years of technical, commercial or product marketing experience.

  • 4 year degree in either Marketing, Business, Finance or Engineering. MBA preferred.

Key Competencies

  • Understanding of HVAC service sales and management.

  • Technical background, with experience in engineering, marketing, or operations preferred.

  • Demonstrated success defining and launching successful products.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills,

  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.

  • Experience working within a complex organization that spans many functions and geographies.

  • Sound program management, analysis, problem resolution, attention to details, teambuilding, judgment and decision making skills.
