MassMutual Solutions Architect, Data Platform - Hybrid or Remote US in Dallas, Texas

Are you passionate about building data platform, data lake, data infrastructure, and analytics SaaS services in public Cloud with expertise in modern Big Data and Cloud data stack (Kafka, Hadoop, Spark, Flink, AWS cloud-native..), Java, Python? At a broader level the Solutions Architect is involved in defining technology capability and solution roadmap including the transition states for our custom-built next-generation data platforms and policy migration services. He/She plays a key role as a growth/innovator driver and advocate for good design work. The work focuses on overall architecture, design, build, and integration of solutions spanning multiple business and technical domains.

You’ll have an opportunity to be part of a dynamic group, partnering with platform engineering and broader architecture communities within MassMutual, and be responsible for the technical development and execution on MassMutual’s multi-year data and application transformation program.

Responsibilities:

  • Conceive, design, and establish a sound Software Architecture towards building a scalable data platform that improves efficiency and automation of policy migration initiatives.

  • Own architecture and solution roadmap, and provide technical leadership to multiple engineering teams including adherence to the solution architecture.

  • Design systems to perform ETL and real-time streaming integrations on datasets in a distributed and scalable manner leveraging cloud-first approach.

  • Design, build scalable microservices and API’s that further enable our pipelines and data management systems.

  • Architect solutions as reusable components that compose an overall solution as flexible, scalable, performant and provides superior user experience.

  • Partner directly with the specific technology subject matter experts and Enterprise Architecture to ensure architecture standards are adopted and solutions are aligned with enterprise technology stacks.

  • Document and communicate architectural requirements. Lead and facilitate system design and architectural activities in support of design reviews and decisions.

  • Understand and proactively assess the current state of the technology and identify gaps and overlaps. Capture future state technology vision in actionable, context-specific roadmaps

  • Supports project manager/release manager by developing detailed project information such as high-level solution designs, estimates, evaluation criteria and results, etc.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or similar technical field of study

  • 8+ years software design & development experience, with 4+ years of relevant experience as a Solution Architect or in a similar role that focuses on technical solution design and implementation.

  • Expert in designing large enterprise-grade applications, with strong experience in industry standard systems integration patterns.

  • Extensive experience with Big data and distributed systems like Spark, Hadoop ecosystem, EMR, NoSQL data stores etc.

  • Strong experience in Event Streaming design & implementation using Kafka, Storm, Spark.

  • Excellent software development skills using Java and/or Scala, Python.

  • Experienced in building data platforms leveraging AWS Cloud native services like EC2, S3, CS, SQS, API gateway, Lambda, Aurora, Athena.

  • Understanding of distributed systems concepts and principles (consistency and availability, durability, reliability, fault-tolerance).

  • Deep understanding of data structure, algorithms, and systems performance-optimization techniques.

  • Understanding of REST API for data interchange, and experience in API-driven systems designing.

  • Comfortable working with Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS cloud data-infrastructure.

  • Experience in automated DevOps deployment pipelines.

  • Eagerness to learn new tools and technologies.

  • Ability to effectively work in and navigate a matrixed, multi-vendor organization.

  • Strong consultative skills at a cross-functional level.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experienced in Configuration and Orchestration technologies: Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, CloudFormation, Kubernetes

  • Experienced in integration patterns utilizing frameworks such as Camel, Spring Integrators, Broker, Message Service Models.

  • Front-end technologies – React, NodeJS, Angular JS.

  • Excellent mentoring skills and the desire to contribute to efforts beyond the scope of the day-to-day project work.

Salary Commensurate to Experience:

120,000.00 - 180,000.00 USD Annual
