CVS Health Lead Director, Accounting in Cumberland, Rhode Island

Reporting to the Executive Director of Accounting, Pharmacy Services (PS) Controllers Group, the Lead Director, Accounting will oversee the financial operations and ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.

This role is an opportunity to support high-growth assets in the Health Services Segment (HSS) that is a strategically important value driver for CVS Health over the next several years and help this business achieve its potential. The Lead Director, Accounting will lead financial reporting and analysis, and develop a team that maintains the integrity of financial data, manages accounting processes, and ensures compliance with accounting principles and regulations.

What you will do

  • Controls the preparation and review of accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

  • Develops and maintains accounting policies and procedures to ensure consistency and accuracy.

  • Delivers financial analysis, insights, and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.

  • Determines the budgeting and forecasting process, collaborating with relevant teams to develop accurate and realistic budgets.

  • Contributes to the development of financial strategies and long-term plans in collaboration with senior management.

  • Communicates financial information, including results, forecasts, and key financial metrics, to senior management.

  • Aligns accounting systems and technology solutions to optimize financial processes and reporting.

  • Guides management for individual performance evaluations aimed to provide critical feedback for skills development and depth of work area experience.

  • Manages operational aspects of the team, and implements workforce and succession plans to meet business goals.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years work experience in accounting or finance

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required.

  • Adept at execution and delivery (planning, delivering, and supporting) skills

  • Adept at business intelligence

  • Adept at collaboration and teamwork

  • Health care and pharmaceutical related business and accounting experience is preferred.

  • Mastery of problem solving and decision making skills

  • Mastery of growth mindset (agility and developing yourself and others) skills


  • Bachelor's degree preferred OR specialized training/relevant professional experience ( 4 Years)

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$100,000.00 - $231,500.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
