The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
Leading response to EHS incidents, quality issues, and audit findings through root cause analysis and highly effective corrective actions
Supporting product manufacturing through run coverage, factory operating procedure maintenance and unit cost/variance analysis
Maintaining and improving process equipment through operability and safety evaluations, capital projects and renewals; including team participation during design, installation, checkout and startup of new and modified equipment
Implementing new product introductions and transfers from other production sites by completing the necessary Process Hazard Analyses, Pre Startup Safety Reviews and Management of Change activities
Drive process improvements through Lean Six Sigma methodologies
Supporting a dynamic 24x7 operation through a willingness to be on-call
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited Institution
Two (2) years of combined experience in one and/or more of the following areas: EHS, Quality, Manufacturing/Production Engineering, Process Engineering, Product Engineering, and/or Product Development in a private, public, government or military environment
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline from an accredited institution
Five (5) years of experience in process engineering within a manufacturing/production and/or industrial setting
Experience in chemical manufacturing with an understanding of polymer chemistry, reaction chemistry, separations, distillation, mixing and/or milling
Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM) covered processes
Experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies
Capital equipment design and installation
Strong Leadership Attributes, sound project management skills and the ability to lead cross-functional teams
Effective written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills
Travel: May include up to 10% domestic.
