Job Summary

The SeniorOrigination Manager will be responsible for the origination of solar photovoltaic, wind, energy storage, and/or other infrastructure asset development projects and program opportunities with existing and new targeted clients. This role will also provide guidance to other SeniorOrigination Manager(s) and leadership regarding market conditions, client demands, pipeline, growth, and industry trends. Reporting to the head of Global origination team, the senior manager will work with cross-functional teams, such as Finance and Operations, to contract and deliver successful renewable energy off-take agreements to support the financing of utility scale renewable projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Originate and manage all aspects of solar/wind/energy storage offtake origination for corporate/industrial off takers for renewable energy projects and/or portfolios of projects that Diode is developing from identifying/qualifying the Clients to an executed power purchase agreement, lease agreement or other offtake structure

  • Assist in driving Client decisions and prioritizing resources within Diode, based on a deep understanding of schedule dependencies and economic impact.

  • Identify credit-worthy corporate off-takers and hedges as potential revenue source for projects. Conduct due-diligence and analysis on new Clients to ensure meet minimal requirements for third party investors.

  • Maintain direct relationships with off takers

  • Manage a sales pipeline and execute on complex sales processes with off takers

  • Negotiate terms and conditions of power purchase agreements, hedging agreements, and interconnection or other ISO agreements to protect the commercial sensitivities of each deal

  • Coordinate the tasks and inputs of the supporting functions such as Legal, Engineering, Finance, and Project Management

  • Coordinate financial modeling inputs on the revenue side with Finance to assess project economics.

  • Keep fully informed in a timely manner on market developments and industry news/events to quickly identify business opportunities in regions of the US that allow direct offtake with renewable energy assets practical.

  • Participate in industry conferences and events related to corporate off takers

  • Identification, quantification, and management of risks for the off takers within the expectations of Sr. Leadership, equity investors, and lenders.

  • Schedule regular meetings to coordinate broad communication of offtake events, issues, and challenges across an integrated, multidisciplinary team of colleagues.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree. Ability to learn technical concepts is mandatory.

  • 7 years experience in the energy industry.

  • Complete all training requirements throughout the program.

  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in one or more of each of the following areas:Renewables, Energy Origination, Digital Infrastructure Origination,Commodities Hedging and Trading

  • Preferred experience in direct selling, marketing or proposal management as well.

  • Experience negotiating commercial elements of offtake agreements

  • Creative, independent thinker; demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a diverse team

  • Knowledge of wholesale power markets.

  • Solid understanding of energy project economics, and quantitative analysis.

  • Proven experience with offtake agreements (PPAs, VPPAs, leases) for corporate/industrial Clients and knowledge of power marketing aspects of renewable energy.

  • Successful track record of understanding complex offtake structures in renewable energy.

  • The following experience are a plus: RTOs (PJM, MISO, CAISO, SPP, ERCOT), multinational environment, legal, full cycle development.

  • Extensive knowledge of the full cycle of renewable power generation.

  • Deep network of corporate clients interested in renewables

  • Proactively anticipates and finds solutions to potential problems.

  • Solid understanding of economic drivers within our business.

  • Concisely frame issues by providing context, analysis, recommendations, and risk/benefit tradeoffs, both in written and verbal format, to project teams and to senior management.

  • Strong understanding of the Client external relationships and who within the organization has buying power (not just evaluators).

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite tools, including Microsoft Project.

  • Independent self-starter who can meet deadlines and deliver quality products with minimal oversight.

  • Substantial ability to recognize opportunities, identify and evaluate risks in an origination context as well as effectively communicate the foregoing.

  • Ability to manage a fast moving, large workload, often providing support to processes managed by colleagues, while prioritizing tasks and effectively juggling competing deadlines.

  • Detail-oriented with a strong sense of personal responsibility and ownership of work product.

  • Excellent personal organizational and pattern recognition skills.

  • Has an ability to effectively communicate complex ideas.

  • Has the ability and enthusiasm to drive projects forward.

  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities.

  • Quick learner, able to research and self-teach new concepts.
