CVS Health Category Manager - Alcohol in Concord, California

Job Description

The Category Manager - Alcohol will lead development and execution of the Alcohol category within an assigned geographic territory covering roughly 3,000 CVS locations. The position will work from home 3 days per week and in the Regional Business office 2 days per week and report to the Director of Alcohol. The AFM- Alcohol will develop and execute Category plans within the Beer, Wine and Spirits categories with an emphasis on Planogram development, Assortment, SKU productivity, localization, and versioning. The AFM -Alcohol will manage oversight of All cost maintenance and pricing recommendations and will be responsible for submitting promotional and everyday pricing plans. This position is also responsible for performing root cause analysis, problem resolution, category research and analysis. The AFM- Alcohol will collaborate and manage communication with local supplier partners and CVS field teams (DL, RD) to drive compliance to established merchandising standards and service.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Management, Economics, Marketing, or Finance- Three to Five years’ experience in Category Management/CPG Merchandising or Marketing with a multi-market retailer- Demonstrated ability to manage a P&L - Strong leadership skills, with the ability to prioritize and deliver on multiple concurrent initiatives that have significant financial impact.- Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills. Demonstrated ability to synthesize facts and insights into concrete, actionable strategies, and tactical plans. - Excellent communicator, both verbal and written, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization- Results driven, with a desire to work in a fast-paced environment-Strong cross-boundary abilities with the ability to work collaboratively and effectively across organizational boundaries.- Ability to travel as necessary is required. Up to 10%- Must be Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to Lead Category Management Functions -Develop and execute BY State planning to capitalize on Pricing, Planogram and Marketing programs. Proven collaboration - Ability to Partner with Cross functional teams to ensure that the strategic goals of the categories are supported by all marketing and merchandising programs.-Creative energy to Develop unique merchandising programs that support corporate strategies and goals while also serving the unique needs of their geographic territories.-Analytical Rigor to Identify, evaluate, and implement new businesses, categories, and items related to specific territories when strategically appropriate -Proven Track record in project management and ability to lead Execution based initiatives.-Negotiate and manage local vendor relationships with territory specific suppliers- Ability to Communicate and execute category merchant strategic plans in partnership with Field -- Operations (RD, DL and Store manager) -Maintain positive trade relations with DSD distributor partners and while ensuring adherence to All legal and compliance standards.- Must have the ability to lead a team and communicate both up and down throughout various business units.
