ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: As a General Laborer in the Foundry, you may be assigned to any of the following functions as needed per production and staffing needs: 1. Desprue spurs from molds using hands or hammer. Lift product from shaker belt, snap off spurs, or apply downward thrust of product to break off spurs on hard metal base, or use 2/2 lb. hammer to remove spur by hammer blow. 2. Sort product by shape and size, discarding imperfects, using hands. Pick up 2 to 4 different size and shape products from shaker belt, and toss into appropriate bin or designated area, using both hands. Visually observe for imperfections and discard into designated area. 3. Shovel sand onto belts. Using standard flat edge shovel, shovel from floor to heights of 46 inches on continuous basis. 4. Shovel sand from pits using flat edge shovel. May also remove bucketsful of sand from work area. 5. Sweep and clean designated areas. Using push broom, sweep dust and debris from assigned areas and discard into waste receptacle. 6. Operate forklift. Upon obtaining certification, operate forklift to transport waste and product. Required Skills ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Exposure to extreme heat above 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Noise level can exceed 80 decibels and hearing protection provided by employer is required in all work areas. Exposure to dust caused by production process; masks available upon request. Hazardous conditions include moving machine parts and forklifts. Employees are issued hardhat, hearing protection, safety glasses, gloves. Steel-toed shoes are required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Standing: Must be able to stand up to a constant basis (67% or more of work shift). Working surfaces include concrete, wood, metal, and steel grate. Antiandmdash;fatigue mats provided upon request for sorting and despruing tasks. Walking: Must be able to walk up to a frequent basis (up to 66% of work moving to and from designated work sites throughout three story facility. inclined surfaces include concrete, wood, metal, and steel grate. Sitting: Must be able to sit occasionally (up to 33% of work shift) when operating forklift. Pushing/Pulling: Must be able to push up to a frequent basis (34% to 66% of work shift) when using push broom to clear floor surfaces. Lifting: Must be able to lift constantly (67% or more of work shift). When despruing, worker lifts product up to 50 lbs. from shaker belt for placement in designated area. When sorting, worker lifts product ranging in weight from under 1 lb. - 26 lbs. Lifting is from 28andrdquo; andmdash; 36andrdquo; belts and worker tosses sorted product several inches to several feet into designated areas. When shoveling, worker lifts shovels and/or buckets of sand weighing up to 25 lbs. Carrying: Must be able to carry up to 25 lbs. occasionally (up to 33% of work shift) as when shoveling sand and moving buckets. Stooping: Must be able to stoop up to a constant basis (67% or more of work shift) as when shoveling and performing clean-up duties. Climbing: Must be able to climb occasionally (up to 33% of work shift) vertical stationary ladders and stairs to reach designated work stations. Reaching: Must be able to reach up to a constant basis (67% or more of work shift).
