LSEG Senior Specialist, Unix in Colombo, Sri Lanka

Role Responsibilities

  • Proactively maintain and develop Linux infrastructure technology to maintain a 24x7x365 uptime service.

  • Engage in systems administration-related solutions for various project and operational needs

  • Maintain best practices on managing systems and services across all environments

  • Fault finding, analysis and of logging information for reporting of performance exceptions

  • Proactively monitoring system performance and capacity planning

  • Manage, coordinate, and implement software upgrades, patches, hot fixes and vulnerability remediation

  • Provide input on ways to improve the stability, security, efficiency.

  • Develop automation strategies.

  • Drive towards cloud computing.

  • Collaborate with other teams and team members.

  • Provide assistance during major incidents and maintain SLA.

  • Develop and maintain systems documentation.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in Linux systems Administration.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a relevant degree

  • In depth knowledge of Linux: RedHat, CentOS, SuSE.

  • Linux certifications will be considered an advantage

  • Expert in Shell, Perl, and/or Python scripting

  • Hands on experience in AWS/AZURE

  • Hands on experience in MySQL and Oracle will be an advantage

  • Other desirable technologies: Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins

  • Solid knowledge of protocols such as DNS, HTTP, LDAP, SMTP and SNMP

  • Strong problem solving and communication skills
