Position Description

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL) has an immediate opening for a Cytometrist to join the Flow Cytometry Shared Resource. CSHL is a highly interactive research environment, and the Flow Cytometry Shared Resource team actively collaborates with CSHL scientists to further their research projects. The successful candidate will play an active role in helping researchers sort and analyze a wide variety of samples and cell types, including cells from animal models of cancer, immune cells, stem cells, neurons, and organoids. The successful applicant will be responsible for assisting scientists with experimental design and data analysis, instrument training, cell sorting, instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and assisting with other management tasks. The successful applicant will work under the supervision and support of the facility director; an exceptional candidate would be considered for a managerial position.
The position will provide meaningful contributions to novel research across a variety of biological disciplines while refining one’s expertise on a variety of instruments. Qualifications:

Qualified candidates should have a BS or MS in cell biology or a related area in biological science and biotechnology/bioengineering. Prior experience operating cell sorters or cell analyzers preferred, but training will be provided as needed. Candidates should be highly motivated, adept at problem solving, and have the ability to think independently. Excellent communication skills, computer skills, and the ability to work with a diverse group of people are also important.
