For 80 years, we have been one of upstate New York’s largest providers of programs and services for individuals who have disabilities. Many of the innovative programs and vital services that we offer are not available elsewhere We are searching for an Application Specialist to join our agency.
The Application Specialist contributes to the mission of the Center for Disability Services (the Center) and the IT department by providing technical and user support and documentation for a subset of the software applications within the Center. Applications supported include, but are not limited to, Infor ERP, Centricity EHR, and Kronos. Acts as the liaison between application users and the IT department or software vendors. Assists with all of the activities required for design specifications, implementation, documentation and maintenance of application software. Responsible to work closely with the application users and software vendors to gain intricate knowledge of the applications supported.
Responsibilities:
Provides user and technical support to CFDS staff for a subset of supported software applications, which includes Business and/or Clinical applications
Acts as second level support to the Help Desk Staff
Investigates and diagnoses user reported issues to determine the source, resolve (if possible), or escalate to appropriate area
Creates and maintains technical application documents and user documentation for all supported software
Collaborates with business users, IT Department, and software vendors to ensure smooth and reliable operation of software while fulfilling business objectives and processes
Assists with developing and documenting requirements for application design or change request
Assists with writing and implementing software test scripts for new and existing applications including software upgrades and service pack installations
Assists with Application testing when needed
Creates and updates user training documentation for new and existing applications
Trains end-users on new or existing software functionality and/or procedural or process changes when required
Collaborates with IT Management to coordinate and test enhancements, upgrades, patches, and fixes
Communicates with Help Desk staff regularly
Identifies changes and enhancements to applications that may affect users
Applies, maintains, and documents data element changes /configurations within the software application
Assists with the set-up, maintenance, and documentation of application security for designated applications
Leads small to medium sized projects for software testing and implementation as requested
Masters new tools and services to maintain and develop competence in the support area
Participates on Center projects and committees as requested
Completes all other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Associates Degree in Computer Science or related field required (4 years of relevant experience would be considered in lieu of an Associates degree); Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred
2 years of relevant experience preferred, specifically in Application Support
Experience working in a clinical setting using an Electronic Medical Record System strongly preferred
Accounting/Finance or medical billing experience preferred
Basic knowledge of Structural Query Language (SQL)
Basic knowledge of database design
Basic familiarity with server configuration in relation to the application
Basic report writing skills
Data analysis skills
This position is location on-site at our Cedar Street location in Cohoes, NY (some travel in and around the Capital Region is required). The compensation range for this position is $23.02 to $29.60. Rate of pay is commensurate on experience.
