The Financial and Customer Support Technician assists Minnesotans with disabilities to reach their goals of working and living in the community. The majority of the responsibilities specialize in fiscal knowledge/skills and include processing numerous financial documents, following purchasing procedures, paying of purchase orders, and authorizations. This position requires attention to detail and accuracy as it supports the participant’s employment plan by coordinating the purchasing of goods and services. Additionally, this position provides fiscal support for vocational counselors and other staff on the team including referral information for other required services for participants or potential participants.

Travel is required within the service area to assist participants with services, e.g., purchasing of goods at local vendors.

This position will be open on a continuous basis until posted end date or until all positions are filled.

*Hiring Incentive: The successful incumbent of this position may be eligible for a hiring incentive of $5,000 paid out in two (2) lump sums following the completion of the required probationary period and following two (2) years of successful service in the role.

Minimum Qualifications

To receive credit for your education and experience, your resume should clearly describe how you meet each minimum and/or preferred qualification listed, including dates of employment.

Skill in:

  • Communication to provide prompt, courteous, and accurate information to coworkers and all stakeholders.

  • Human relations to negotiate, collaborate, build, and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, job seekers, and vendors.

  • Math (arithmetic) sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, decimals; and calculate percentages.

  • Keyboarding to enter data in a database or spreadsheet comparable to the State's accounting system (SWIFT) and Workforce One platforms.

  • Software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite to manage, track, and report expenses, financial transactions, and invoices.

  • Basic accounting sufficient to review, analyze, and verify financial records, calculate monthly fees, and prepare financial summaries and reports.

Incumbent must maintain valid driver's license, & insurance, OR have other reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in the following:

  • Providing services to people with disabilities.

  • Developing and maintaining relationships with diverse populations such as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) and Native American Individuals.

  • Working with StateWide Integrated Financial Tools (SWIFT) or other accounting systems and Workforce One platform or other online case management platform.

Ability to communicate in a second language (specifically Deaf and Hard of Hearing-American Sign Language, Somali, Hmong, or Spanish).
