Atrium Health Workplace Violence Mitigation Education Manager in Charlotte, North Carolina

Job Summary:

The Workplace Violence Education Manager assumes responsibility for leadership, monitoring, and analysis of de-escalation training and implementation, collaborating with Advocate Health managers, directors, clinical staff, security and safety personnel and other system leadership to provide educational activities that supports the Advocate Health adoption and implementation of workplace violence mitigation training, policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the implementation and ongoing sustainability of vendor de-escalation training program within the region. Collaborate with Public Safety training team to assist with Public Safety-specific certifications and program development.

  • Develop and execute tactics to foster ongoing learning and development related to de-escalation skills, including scheduled learning opportunities, resource distribution, and site visits as needed.

  • Ensure all sites in the region have the appropriate number of certified de-escalation training instructors.

  • Maintain a log to ensure that teammates have received assigned initial and refresher de-escalation trainings.

  • Lead the selection and onboarding process of certified de-escalation training instructors.

  • Become a certified de-escalation training instructor. Serve as a ‘master instructor’, acting as a mentor, advisor, and source of support for instructors.

  • Assist sites, leaders, and teammates in developing and maintaining a consistent debriefing process to foster learning opportunities presented through crisis situations that occur.

  • Support teammates needing guidance to effectively apply de-escalation skills to crisis situations.

  • Collaborate with Trauma-Informed Services team for program development and training opportunities.

  • Continuously assesses the effectiveness of training and opportunities for improvement. Utilize data to identify areas that may have additional de-escalation training needs.

  • Participate in Enterprise and Market Workplace Violence Mitigation Council initiatives to ensure alignment.

  • Serve as liaison to de-escalation training vendor. Provide feedback to vendor and participate in the development and/or revision of vendor offerings based on organizational needs.

  • Ensure fidelity to the vendor de-escalation training program.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Strong training and facilitation skills

  • Highly motivated, organized self-starter

  • 3+ years program management experience

  • 3+ years experience in teammate development or adult instruction

  • Experience working with Microsoft Office, database management, and education record keeping

Preferred:

  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Advanced Physical Skills Certified Instructor
