Lowe's Sr Director, Infrastructure Engineering in Charlotte, North Carolina

Your Impact

The primary purpose of this role is to direct and oversee the successful development and deployment of enterprise infrastructure solutions spanning all infrastructure domains and business functions. This includes identifying and providing necessary resources in support of those solutions and leveraging partnerships with Technology teams (e.g., Operations, Infrastructure, Architecture, Quality Assurance, Business Analysts), vendors, and business leaders.

In addition, this role provides critical input into the long-term strategy for technology infrastructure across all infrastructure domains and platforms.

The individual in this role provides direction and people leadership to multiple teams while overseeing department level budgets, planning, and forecasting.

As a Sr Director, Infrastructure Engineering, this individual will focus on leading the work in the following domains: Data Center/Edge Physical Compute, Storage and Backup and/or specific sub-area(s) within these domains.

What You Will Do

• Oversees technical teams in the translation of business requirements and functional specifications into technical requirements that support integrated and sustainable infrastructure designs across multiple technical domains or platforms

• Oversees the implementation and maintenance of enterprise infrastructure systems for multiple domain(s) and/or platform(s) to ensure successful deployment and operation

• Leads global teams that design, build and maintain infrastructure systems; includes responsibility for teams that provide all tiers of infrastructure support to the organization

• Reviews and verifies resource estimates

• Ensures adherence to system support plans, schedules, assignments, and budgets for complex, inter-dependent project components

• Provides critical, expert input to the long-term strategy for IT infrastructure planning, engineering, and architecture across multiple enterprise systems; assesses the implications of Technology business strategies on infrastructure capabilities

• Builds and maintains partnerships with cross-functional leadership to understand short and long-term business needs and functional specifications and to ensure technology solutions support integrated business strategies

• Provides strategic oversight of activities to support successful set-up of the organization's technology architecture; approves resource estimates needed for technical design and testing efforts; oversees system support plans, schedules, assignments, and budgets

• Oversees analyses on the effectiveness of the infrastructure and makes/reviews recommendations for the adoption of new procedures

• Ensures the proper guidance is provided to address escalated issues throughout the development of hardware and software configurations and throughout the preparation of system components for installation to the infrastructure

• Ensures that best practices are in place and being followed for troubleshooting systems and making system enhancements as needed to address infrastructure system performance issues

• Reviews and manages the selection of key vendor partners; drives continuous improvement and efficiency with vendor partnerships

• Oversees the development and delivery of system status reporting

• Oversees system assessments that result in recommendations for the strategy to ensure the ongoing health and care of assigned domain(s) and/or platform(s); helps team anticipate and mitigates system risks

• Leverages benchmarking results and understanding of technology industry trends to make recommendations to senior Technology leadership related to current and future infrastructure needs

• Responsible for departmental budget forecasting and allocation decisions

• Provides leadership to the team by attracting and hiring talented individuals, setting goals and communicating clear expectations, providing timely and constructive feedback as well as meaningful developmental opportunities, managing performance, providing resources and support as needed, and sponsoring and leading team members through change

• Creates and/or leads the creation of SOPs, OKRs, and overall operationalization of assigned services or applications

• Develops the vision for infrastructure needs and initiatives for assigned domain(s) and/or platform(s); oversees the development and modification of infrastructure solutions within various computing environments across multiple business functions

• Oversees the creation of and accountable for capital and expense budgets for the development, enhancement, and/or maintenance of designated technologies

• Fosters team interactions with architects and software engineers to ensure functional specifications are converted into flexible, scalable, and maintainable system designs; serves as an escalation point for complex or unresolved issues related to requirements translation

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, CIS, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience in a related field)

• 12 years of IT experience

• 8 years of infrastructure engineering experience working across multiple domains, platforms, or specialty areas

• 7 years of IT global leadership experience with direct report responsibility

• 5 years of experience managing operational and/or project financial budgets, including managing 3rd party vendors and/or software providers

• 4 years of experience working closely with senior leadership

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, CIS, Engineering, or related field

• Experience in a leadership role in a large matrixed organization

• 7 years of experience in infrastructure engineering as a lead, technical process management, project management, IT consulting, or related field

• 7 years of experience working with third party IT vendor and/or systems solution provider leadership

• IT Management experience in the retail industry

• Second level IT management experience

• Experience writing technical documentation in an infrastructure development environment

Pay Range for CA, CO, HI, NJ, NY, WA: $179,000.00 - $340,100.00 annually Starting rate of pay may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, position offered, location, education, training, and/or experience.
